Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Rana extraditable to India: US appeals court
Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman could be extradited to India where is wanted for his involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack carried out by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. «The (India US Extradition) Treaty permits Rana's extradition,» the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said in its ruling on Thursday. Ruling on an appeal filed by 63-year-old Rana, a panel of judges of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed the District Court in the Central District of California's denial of his habeas corpus petition challenging a magistrate judge's certification of his as extraditable to India for his alleged participation in terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Rana, currently lodged in a jail in Los Angeles, faces charges for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai attack and is known to be associated with Pakistani-American Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of the terror incident that hit India's financial hub in 2008.

Won't accept formula of party with highest seats getting Chief Ministerial post, declares Uddhav Thackeray
Sharad Pawar's NCP, Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said that he would not accept the formula of the biggest party in the Maha Vikas Aghadi getting the chief minister's post after the assembly polls. Thackeray said that the Congress and the NCP-SP should declare a chief ministerial candidate before the assembly polls and that he is ready to support any candidate declared by the two parties. «I don't want this experience that we had with the BJP to be recreated again. We were together for 25-30 years and we had an arrangement that the party with the most seats would get the CM post. So, by this logic if you get more seats, you will become CM… so I will pull you down (ensure that the ally does not win) and the other party will pull me down. Then what is the purpose of an alliance,» said Thackeray.

Retailers association urges Delhi government to reduce signage fee in the city
Retailers Association of India (RAI) have urged the Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), to reconsider the prohibitive signage fees currently being imposed in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). These fees are significantly higher than those in other parts of India, placing a heavy financial burden on small and medium retail traders who rely on store signage to attract customers. RAI, representing approximately 13,667 member establishments nationwide, including large and small retailers, is committed to fostering a supportive environment for the growth of modern retail in India. The current signage fees in Delhi NCR, particularly in areas such as Janakpuri, are making it increasingly difficult for retailers to afford the necessary signage that highlights their stores to the public.

Supriya Sule slams brother Ajit Pawar, says he mixes business and love
Supriya Sule has slammed her cousin brother and political rival Ajit Pawar for thinking about his sister (sule) only after his party suffered a drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls. Sule taunted Ajit Pawar had never understood the relations between a brother and sister and has been trying to mix love and business together. Sule was reacting to Ajit’s remarks made earlier where he regretted putting a candidate against her as she was his sister. “No one remembered their sister prior to the Lok Sabha campaign, only after the result they (Ajit) have started remembering their sisters. It's unfortunate that our brother has never understood the relations between a brother and a sister. He has been mixing love and business together.”said Sule. She was speaking at a joint meeting of leaders and party cadres of the Maha Vikas Aghadi joint opposition alliance in Mumbai when she made these remarks. This is the first time that Sule has reacted to her brother Ajit’s remarks.

Retailers, brands see 5-10% on-year growth in Independence period sales
Retailers and brands said there has been a 5-10% growth in sales during the Independence period sales this year as compared to last, driven by improvement in sentiments, premiumisation with a marginal recovery in volume or number of units sold for categories like smartphones and laptops, industry executives said. While consumers lapped up premium products in cities and large towns continuing the trend of the last three years, demand in rural areas continued to be muted this month. “Consumer sentiment appears to have improved a bit more than what it was for the rest of the year. We expect 5-10% growth in sales while volume wise there might be an improvement only in the grab and go categories like mobile phones and laptops,” said Nilesh Gupta, director at Vijay Sales, a leading consumer electronic retail chain in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
