Akhaura-Agartala new railway line (5.05 km in India and 10.014 km in Bangladesh) would link Bangladesh’s railway station Akhaura through an international immigration station at Nischintapur in western Tripura. The carmaker delivered over 310,000 units, a growth of 19% year-on-year in the 70-day period between 17 August, the start of the Chingam month, which kicks off Onam festivities in Kerala, and the end of the Navratri period on 24 October, a top company executive said.

NEW DELHI : The government may demand higher dividend payouts from state-run companies should it miss revenue targets because of sluggish tax collections or lower-than-expected asset sale proceeds, two people familiar with the matter said. It may also seek special dividends from state-run oil companies, which have reported bumper profits because of soaring crude prices, one of the two people said. However, the plans will depend on the movement of crude oil prices in the coming months and the profitability of these firms.

NEW DELHI : The National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT), the investment trust sponsored by the National Highways Authority of India, plans to raise as much as ₹9,000 crore after Diwali through a mix of debt and equity, two people familiar with the development said. The infrastructure investment trust’s (InvIT’s) third round of fundraising, involving the monetization of six 250km highway stretches, will be conducted in phases, targeting domestic and global investors. Additionally, a proposed non-convertible debentures (NCD) issue, the size of which would be similar to last year’s ₹1,500 crore, would also be offered to retail investors with assured returns of close to 8%, the people said on the condition of anonymity.

New Delhi: Amplus founder Sanjeev Aggarwal and I Squared Capital have come together again to set up a climate solutions platform—Hexa Climate Solutions—which will focus on renewable energy, water and carbon oxides; wherein the New York-based private equity fund will invest around $500 million, said two people aware of the development. New York-based I Squared Capital is no stranger to India’s green economy and invested $150 million in Amplus Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd in April 2015.

New Delhi: Norway will help fund India’s ‘Hunger Project’ and help strengthen women leaders to protect the environment and promote food security in Uttarakhand. The duration of the project would be three years, until September 2026 with a budget of ₹44.7 million, an official said.

New Delhi: A likely expansion of the economy at slower than the estimated rate of 10.5% in nominal terms this year could make it harder for the government to realize tax revenue targets for FY24, putting pressure on spending in coming months, according to experts. The wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation, which is in the negative territory, could mean India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate without adjusting for inflation may be a little more than 9% in FY24, below the budget estimates, experts said. This would necessitate re-prioritizing the spending programme to make sure funds flow to the highest priority items so that the fiscal deficit target can be achieved, experts said.

New Delhi: An end of year deadline for a free trade deal between India and the European Union is unrealistic, the 27-nation grouping’s Ambassador to India, Hervé Delphin, said in an interview. Stressing the need for a level playing field for European businesses, Delphin cited concerns about India’s regulatory uncertainty as a potential dampener on EU investments. The Sri Lankan foreign ministry said on October 29 that a Chinese vessel has been granted permission to carry out marine research off the island's west coast under supervision. India has concerns that it could be a spy ship. Local scientists will be onboard Shi Yan 6 during two days of research activities, the ministry said. Before this, the vessel was being only allowed to enter the main port of Colombo for «replenishments» in view of India's concerns. India has for some time been uneasy over China's rising presence in the Indian Ocean and its influence in Sri Lanka. Last year, a spacecraft-tracking Chinese vessel last year had raised security concerns in India.
