The federal policy think tank said in a report titled ‘water trading mechanism to promote reuse of treated water’ that in many countries water trading has helped achieve water-use efficiency and productivity. Water trading is a water market mechanism that considers water as a commodity that can be traded among users according to their needs.

NEW DELHI : The steel ministry is seeking the release of around ₹4,000 crore of unused funds from the existing production linked incentive (PLI) for specialty steel to enable it to launch an expanded version— PLI 2.0—for steel grades used in making defence equipment and automobiles, two persons privy to the development said. With the new PLI edition ready to launch, the steel ministry proposes to write to the finance ministry asking for these unused funds, the people cited above said.

NEW DELHI : The union health ministry is considering a proposal to regulate alcohol content in drug preparations such as aromatic tincture in order to curb their illegal sale at pharmacies. They are most often used as ‘country liquor’ by economically weaker sections. As part of the proposal, the government plans to amend the Drug Rules, 1945 to bring alcohol-based drug formulations under Schedule H1 from existing Schedule K drugs.

The ministry may seek a cut in components like turbines, steel and cement which are in the higher slabs, two people aware of the matter said. The suggestions were discussed in a recent meeting at the ministry and may be taken up with the finance ministry, they said.

G20 Summit, the Delhi Metro will sell 'Tourist Smart Cards' through dedicated counters at 36 stations from September 4-13, officials said. These cards will be available in two categories — one-day and three-day validity — offering «unlimited rides» in the metro network. The Tourist Smart Cards are available on regular days too but, in view of the G20 Summit, dedicated counters have been opened to sell these cards for a period of 10 days from Monday, a senior official said. The G20 Leaders' Summit is slated to take place in New Delhi from September 9-10. The dedicated counters have been provided to «facilitate G20 delegates and international visitors who might be interested in exploring the prominent tourist places of the capital city as they arrive in Delhi, owing to the upcoming G20 Summit,» the official said. The one-day card will be available for Rs 200 while the three-day card will cost Rs 500. This amount also includes a refundable security deposit of Rs 50, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.

A joint committee agreed to a regular, quarterly schedule of negotiations, which would conclude the review of the ASEAN-India FTA in 2025.
