The Kuala Lumpur-Bejing flight went missing after it lost contact with radar control. Soon after the take-off, MH370 gave a radio transmission from the cockpit as it said goodbye to Malaysian air traffic controllers. It said, «Goodnight, Malaysian Three Seven Zero.» It proved to be a chilling and final message.

France has submitted its response to India's tender for buying 26 Rafale Marine jets for the Indian Navy's aircraft carriers — INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya. The response to India's Letter of Acceptance has been submitted by France in New Delhi, defence sources told ANI. A team of French government officials dealing with military sales to foreign countries has flown over from Paris to submit the response to Indian tender, they said. The Indian side will carry out a detailed study of the French bid for the Indian deal including the commercial offer or price for the aircraft, along with other details of the contract, they said. India will now negotiate the deal with French government officials, as it is a government-to-government contract. The Navy Chief has directed the officials to ensure that the timeframe required for the project is squeezed significantly to ensure early finalisation and induction of the planes in the inventory. More than a month ago, India delivered the Letter of Request to the French government.

The 8th edition of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Conclave of Chiefs (CoC) is currently underway in Bangkok, Thailand, hosted by the Royal Thai Navy from December 19 to 22, 2023. Leading the charge is Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, who heads a three-member Indian Naval delegation for the Conclave.

MV Ruen, was boarded by armed pirates, prompting an immediate reaction from Indian naval forces. According to a naval spokesperson, the Indian warship, engaged in anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden, swiftly changed course to pursue MV Ruen after it issued a Mayday call via the UKMTO portal, reporting the presence of around six unknown individuals on board. The safety of the 18 crew members aboard MV Ruen remains a top priority, with the Indian Navy coordinating efforts with other agencies and a multi-national force in the area. An official stated, «The overall situation is being closely monitored, and the safety of the crew on board the merchant vessel is paramount.» Both a maritime patrol aircraft and the warship have been deployed to monitor the hijacked vessel's movements.

Indian Navy has planned to deploy both its aircraft carriers INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant on the eastern seaboard during Milan-2024, a flagship international naval exercise hosted by Vizag from February 19-27 next year, a senior official said on Sunday. «The event will be held under the aegis of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Indian Navy with likely participation from nearly 50 friendly countries as a delegation, and 20 foreign warships along with one maritime patrol aircraft,» said Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag-Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) Eastern Naval Command.
