Trump fear grips officials ahead of US elections. US to witness another January 6 Capitol violence?
Donald Trump loses the US Presidential elections again? Will US witness another January 6 Capitol violence? These are the questions that have left US election officials worried. Election officials and experts have apprehensions that Trump and his supporters will not accept the outcome if Democrat nominee Kamala Harris wins the elections. Trump and his supporters could again try to overturn his loss, like he did previously, according to a report in The Washington Post. When the former US President lost the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump not only refused to acknowledge his defeat but also spread unproven claims about widespread voter fraud and attempted to overturn the results in swing states. Trump also pressured Vice President Mike Pence to aid him in remaining in power while rioters stormed the US Capitol on January 6. Though many of those strategies can’t be used again because Trump no longer occupies the White House, and state and federal officials have since strengthened election laws, making it more challenging to disrupt the electoral process. But certain risks still remain.

Will English dominate machine communication? Mayank Kumar to demystify the future of coding at ET Soonicorns Summit 2024
This thought-provoking topic will be at the heart of a Fireside chat featuring Mayank Kumar, Co-founder and Managing Director of upGrad, during the highly anticipated ET Soonicorns Summit 2024, set to take place on September 20 in Bengaluru. As the summit’s theme of ‘From Resurgence to Resilience’ drives home, this session will offer actionable insights into how startups and developers can recalibrate for the future. The event, taking place on September 20 in Bengaluru, will feature other industry stalwarts such as Hari Menon, Aman Gupta, Prayank Swaroop, Sangeeta Bavi, and Umakant Soni, among others, who will engage in dialogues on the evolving funding landscape, building business through strategic reinvention, and the technologies of tomorrow. However, to fully grasp the relevance of Kumar’s Fireside chat, we must first understand the role of English in today’s programming world. English has long been the default language for most programming languages—whether it’s Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript. From syntax to function names and even documentation, English is deeply embedded in the linguistic architecture of software development. This widespread use of English in programming has removed linguistic barriers to a great extent considering English, today, has been described as the “fastest-spreading language in human history. English is estimated to be spoken by some 1.75 billion people worldwide—that’s one in every four of us. The count includes both native speakers and speakers in post-colonial parts of the world. English is also increasingly a global corporate lingua franca. Interestingly, two Indian languages are part of the world’s top 10 most spoken languages: Hindi and Bengali.

Will China’s economic slowdown hurt gold market? Sachin Jain explains
«What I can say is that from a gold point of view, you have to look at the fundamentals of where gold is headed and what are the reasons of those fundamentals, the way they are panning out?,» says Sachin Jain, Regional CEO India, World Gold Council Gold prices have hit a record high of $2,570 per ounce. Do you expect this upward trend in gold prices to continue? What is your internal estimate? Where do you see the prices to be going forward because foreign brokerages are expecting gold prices to touch around $2,700 levels. Sachin Jain: So, I will not be able to comment on the recommendations or the target given by Goldman Sachs or any other company. But what I can say is that from a gold point of view, you have to look at the fundamentals of where gold is headed and what are the reasons of those fundamentals, the way they are panning out? First of them is the central bank's buying, that is an important consideration. Second is the consumption demand in jewellery. The third is how the financial markets normally react. And the fourth is normally the new age requirements of gold, which are mostly around to do with new age technology and so on and so forth.

Will US elections influence Federal Reserve's interest rate decision? Santosh Rao answers
«I mean, for them, for the banking sector, the whole slowdown going towards the recession, if there is one, that is a negative, so that could have played into the banking sector selling off,» says Santosh Rao, Manhattan Venture Partners. More inflation and labour data, I guess that is what investors are bracing for. But how is it that you have read into the inflation print? And does it seem like a September rate cut is pretty much par for the course now? Santosh Rao: Yes, in fact, after today's data 25 basis points is par for the course now. But down the road, there is some chatter that he might continue to cut rates down the road, so maybe two or three, so that is good.

Will US rate cuts boost commodities demand? Anurag Singh answers
«There is nothing which signals a slowdown. All leading indicators just say that it is just back to getting normal. The other point Federal Reserve has to keep in mind is, what is the runway they have? Look, they started from zero percent and which was anyway a very abnormal emergency measure,» says Anurag Singh, Managing Partner, Ansid Capital. At Jackson Hole, we heard the Fed chair, Jerome Powell, saying that the time has come for policy to adjust. The direction of travel is clear, he said, and the timing and pace of rate cuts is going to depend on incoming data. The evolving outlook, the balance of risks and he also said that it seems unlikely that the labour market is going to be a source of elevated inflationary pressures any time soon. We do not seek, he says, or welcome further cooling in the labour market conditions. But looking at the labour data now with some pockets in the market supporting this 25 basis point rate cut in September, November, and December, what is your sense of the size and pace of rate cuts that the Fed will go with? Anurag Singh: First of all, there is no panic in the economy anyways. So, there is no point, markets can behave and do what they do. But the economy overall is just getting back to normal. I mean, you see all the unemployment rate, quits rate, hiring rate, ratio of unemployed to jobs those kind of numbers are just about getting back to where they were in 2019 or 2020, just before the pandemic started.
