Donald Trump loses the US Presidential elections again? Will US witness another January 6 Capitol violence? These are the questions that have left US election officials worried. Election officials and experts have apprehensions that Trump and his supporters will not accept the outcome if Democrat nominee Kamala Harris wins the elections. Trump and his supporters could again try to overturn his loss, like he did previously, according to a report in The Washington Post.
When the former US President lost the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump not only refused to acknowledge his defeat but also spread unproven claims about widespread voter fraud and attempted to overturn the results in swing states. Trump also pressured Vice President Mike Pence to aid him in remaining in power while rioters stormed the US Capitol on January 6.
Though many of those strategies can’t be used again because Trump no longer occupies the White House, and state and federal officials have since strengthened election laws, making it more challenging to disrupt the electoral process. But certain risks still remain.
