MAGA star Donald Trump is shaking up nationalism
MAGA star Donald Trump wants to Make America Greater Again. In sq kms, that is. We all know of the US annexing nearly 13 lakh sq km of Mexican territory after winning the war with Mexico in 1848; buying 76,800 sq km in present day southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico — the area known as Gadsden Purchase — from Mexico in 1854; buying Alaska from Russia in 1867; annexing independent Hawaii in 1898; procuring 117 sq km of Guantanamo Bay to set up a US detention camp in 1903, which the Cuban communist government has considered illegal since it came to power in 1959. There's, of course, the United States of America itself, carved out of lands not 'owned' by anyone when it was occupied by Native Americans, then turned into a British colony, and ultimately an independent nation state in 1776 according to Westphalian sovereignty norms invented in 17th century Europe. But less well known is America's territorial losses. The Panama Canal Zone, which it acquired in 1904 from private and public Panamanian owners, was returned to Panama in 1979, formally ceding its control in 1999. In Oceania, Japan-occupied Marshall Islands, which the US occupied after WW2, got its independence in 1979. The same 'transition' model was followed with Federated States of Micronesia and Palau, both of which officially gained independence from US 'trusteeship' in 1990 and 1994, respectively.

Donald Trump's faces entry ban in 38 countries as felony convictions could impact ability to travel internationally
Former US President Donald Trump's legal battles could soon affect his ability to travel internationally, as many countries have strict entry requirements that bar individuals with felony convictions. With Trump facing 34 felony charges related to his involvement in a hush money scheme during the 2016 election, his criminal record could complicate travel to several nations that enforce such policies. According to Newsweek, G7 countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan, along with others such as Israel and China, have policies preventing convicted felons from entering their borders. These restrictions could hinder Trump’s ability to travel abroad if his convictions stand, raising questions about how this might impact his international dealings, especially if he pursues a second term in office. These entry bans vary across countries. Some, like Canada and Japan, will deny entry to anyone with a felony conviction, while others, such as Brazil and Cambodia, may not check criminal records at the border but could deny entry if a conviction is discovered later.

Images caught on Google Maps give police big clue in Spanish murder case
Google Maps cameras have captured some pretty interesting photos in the past, preserved on the mapping software for the world to find, but this time the images have given police an extra clue in the arrests of two people in connection with a murder investigation. The images in question were captured by a Google Maps car camera in October, in which a man can be seen hunched over the trunk of a car on a nearly deserted street in Spain, loading a large, bulky object wrapped in what appears to be a white sheet or bags.Police say they believe the object is tied to the death of a Cuban national living in Spain who was reported missing by a relative in late 2023.According to newspaper El País, the man had been living in the northern Spanish municipality of Soria, where he had turned up hoping to track down a woman believed to be his partner. The relative of the missing man contacted police, saying he’d received some suspicious text messages from the man’s phone saying he’d met another woman and would be leaving Spain and ditching his phone.“This made the complainant suspect that the messages had not been sent by the missing person and led him to report it to police,” police said in a statement.Last month, according to Reuters, a man and woman were initially arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. What is the connection between US elections and the 'daylight saving time' affecting 400 million Americans?
Daylight saving time (DST) affects approximately 400 million individuals across North America and is currently a focal point of discussion regarding its necessity. This biannual ritual of adjusting clocks forward in spring and back in autumn has been a staple in American, Canadian, and Cuban culture for over a century. However, recent legislative efforts and changing public opinions are prompting a reevaluation of its significance in today's world.

Want extra money through side hustles? Shark Mark Cuban shares ideas that require only ChatGpt, Google's Gemini
Mark Cuban has opened on side husstles that he would undertake to earn some extra money if he was 16 years old again. First, he’d learn how to write prompts for artificial intelligence language models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. Next, he’d teach his friends how to use those prompts on their school papers. “Then, I would go to businesses, particularly small- to medium-sized businesses that don’t understand AI yet,” says Cuban. “Doesn’t matter if I’m 16, I’d be teaching them as well," he told CNBC Make It. The Shark Tank judge's choices for side husstles are different from his actual first job, selling garbage bags door-to-door to his neighbors outside of Pittsburgh at age 12 to save up for a new pair of basketball shoes, said CBNC's report. He further continued to earn extra cash as a teenager by selling collectibles like baseball cards, stamps, and coins, eventually helping him pay to attend Indiana University. There, he bartended, hosted parties with cover charges and even picked up work as a dance instructor.

Should Kamala Harris opted for an interview with Elon Musk on X? She rejected the offer and it could prove costly
Mark Cuban has voiced his opinion on the «Squawk Box» of CNBC that he had the offer of facilitating a meeting between Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk and Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. According to The Hill, the campaign of Kamala Harris has rejected this proposal stating the concern about the potential of Elon Musk of misrepresenting the conversation on X while Mark Cuban also mentioned that they just do not trust Elon Musk as he can do something to distort the purpose of the meeting. In response to the comments of Mark Cuban, Elon Musk wrote on X sharing his desire to be involved in a live discussion session for preventing any kind of misinterpretation. Though later, Mark Cuban rectified his earlier remarks with the suggestion that he should have used ‘disclosure’ instead of using the term ‘distortion’, reported The Hill.
