Global AI guidelines 'normative', unclear about implementation, say researchers
global guidelines around the use of AI, researchers found that while most of the guidelines valued privacy, transparency, and accountability, very few valued truthfulness, intellectual property, or children's rights. Further, most of these guidelines described ethical principles and values without proposing practical methods for implementing them and without pushing for legally binding regulation, a team of researchers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, found. To determine if a global consensus existed regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the researchers identified and analysed 200 documents related to AI ethics and governance published between 2014 and 2022 from 37 countries and six continents and written or translated into five different languages — English, Portuguese, French, German and Spanish.

Internal issues should not be discussed by others: Om Birla tells European Parliament VP
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday lodged a strong protest with European Parliament Vice President Nicola Beer over the passage of a proposal linked to India's internal matters. Birla further highlighted India's sovereignty and protested against bringing proposals to the European Parliament on its internal issues. Earlier in July, just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to France for the Bastille Day Parade, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on India to act «promptly» to halt the violence in Manipur and protect religious minorities. Om Birla insisted that every nation and parliament is sovereign and that their internal issues should not be discussed by others. Om Birla also held bilateral discussions with the Vice President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer. European Parliament Vice President Nicola Beer also informed Om Birla that Europe is going through challenging times and sought India's cooperation, it further stated.

France raises alert level to highest after teacher killed in Islamist attack
France city of Arras on Friday that President Emmanuel Macron condemned as «barbaric Islamic terrorism.» Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said France was now on its highest state of alert and that the Arras attack bore a link to events in the Middle East, where Israel is conducting a military offensive to root out Hamas fighters after their deadly rampage. Only a day earlier, Macron had urged the French to remain united and refrain from bringing the Israel-Hamas conflict home. Visiting the site of the attack, Macron paid his respects to the dead teacher, whose body still lay under a cover surrounded by a pool of blood. "(He) stepped in and undoubtedly saved a lot of lives himself," Macron said. «Our choice is made not to give in to terror, not to let anything divide us.» The suspect, who has been arrested, was a former student of the Lycee Gambetta high school where the attack happened, a police source said.

Microsoft-Activision Blizzard: Ubisoft reveals strategy
Ubisoft has unveiled key details regarding the streaming of Activision Blizzard video games after Microsoft acquisition. In a recent blog post, Chris Early, Ubisoft's Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development, provided further details on the company's strategies. The French gaming publisher will have the ability to license the streaming rights to various cloud gaming platforms. It is worth noting that the blog does not explicitly state whether Microsoft can acquire a license for Xbox Cloud Streaming. Early explained that the agreement encompasses all of Activision Blizzard's existing games, as well as all games to be released in the next 15 years. Ubisoft's initial plan is to stream these games via Ubisoft+. In due course, these games are expected to become available on services such as Amazon Luna, where Ubisoft maintains a presence. Xbox maker Microsoft closed its $69 billion deal for Activision Blizzard on Friday, swelling its heft in the video-gaming market with best-selling titles including «Call of Duty» to better compete with industry leader Sony. Originally unveiled in January 2022, the biggest deal in the gaming industry cleared its final big hurdle — an approval from Britain — earlier in the day after Microsoft agreed to sell streaming rights for Activision's games to allay competition concerns. The completion is a major win for the U.S. tech firm in its push to attract more people to its Xbox consoles and Game Pass subscription service. Microsoft's gaming revenue trails that of Sony, whose PlayStation consoles outsell the Xbox.

He also underlined that India has passed a legislation to give 33% reservation to women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies. In his 23-minute speech at the P20 Summit here, the prime minister said, «A world full of conflict and confrontation is not in the interest of anybody.

France vs Netherlands live streaming: When and where to watch Euro 2024 qualifiers match
France has emerged victorious in all five of their matches, while Ronald Koeman's Netherlands currently hold the second position in the standings, tied with Greece. This upcoming match holds significant importance for the Netherlands, especially considering they have an additional game in hand. The EURO 2024 tournament is scheduled to take place across Germany during the summer of 2024. Italy secured the EURO 2020 title after a dramatic penalty shootout against England. Unfortunately, Koeman's squad will be without several key players, including Cody Gakpo, Jurrien Timber, Sven Botman, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Mark Flekken, Memphis Depay, Noa Lang, Teun Koopmeiners, Tyrell Malacia, and Steven Berghuis due to injuries. On the other hand, France's coach, Didier Deschamps, faces similar challenges with the unavailability of Wesley Fofana, Presnel Kimpembe, William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano, Jules Kounde, and Axel Disasi, all sidelined due to injuries.
