Eight-fold rise in per capita income needed to realise 'Vikshit Bharat' goal: Dhankhar
Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday asserted that an eight-fold rise in per capita income needs to be achieved to realise the goal of «Viksit Bharat» (developed India) by the year 2047. Addressing the second convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Bihar's Motihari, he also expressed hope that the country, which was currently the «fifth largest economy» in the world, would «soon leave Germany and Japan behind». Lavishing praise on the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, without taking any names, Dhankhar said, «The last 10 years have been marked by eradication of a culture of corruption and middlemen seem to have been eliminated».

Rattled by China, West scrambles to rejig critical minerals supply chains
China's trade restrictions on strategic minerals are starting to hit Western companies where it hurts. Blaming Beijing's curbs on antimony exports announced in August, German chemicals and consumer goods heavyweight Henkel told customers last month it had declared force majeure and suspended deliveries of four types of adhesives and lubricants widely used by automakers, according to a Nov. 8 letter to clients reviewed by Reuters. Henkel uses the silvery metal to make its Bonderite and Teroson-branded products, core parts of the company's adhesive technologies division, which brought in 10.79 billion euros ($11.4 billion) in revenue last year.

Why South Korean and Japanese women are choosing American or European husbands
Data reveals a clear preference among these women for Western partners. In South Korea, 28% of international marriages in 2023 involved American men, followed by 18% with Chinese men. Marriages to men from other Western countries, including France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, accounted for approximately 17%. A similar trend appears in Japan, where American men were the top choice among foreign grooms for Japanese women. Japanese men seeking foreign brides, however, primarily choose women from China and the Philippines.

Phillip’s machine manufacturing arm will bring Titanium and other hi-tech materials to India
Phillips Machine Tools (PMT) will launch a dedicated 3D materials division to address India’s lack of locally available high-tech consumables and raw materials, including titanium. The company has plans to secure an import license in the next six months and cater to the defence, aerospace, renewable, electronics, and, in certain aspects, the health tech market and clean energy sectors, the company’s Managing Director, Terrence Miranda, told ET. PMT is a fully owned subsidiary of the USA-based Phillips Corporation. “To obtain this license, you need to demonstrate capabilities, such as owning the necessary equipment and conducting R&D on it. India does not yet produce aerospace-grade titanium in the quantities or quality needed. For sectors like space and defence, this poses a significant challenge,” he said, adding that the company will incorporate it into its new 20,000 sq. ft facility in Chakan, Pune. PMT is working to source titanium from international markets, including the US and Germany, while also exploring regional exports to make it easier to procure.
