India has cracked the code on drawing foreign capital: Charles Emond, CEO CDPQ
Justin Trudeau's allegations of «potential» involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last June on Canadian soil, the boss of Canada's 2nd largest pension fund, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), said the US and India are the only two outperforming markets in the world. Without getting drawn into the specific allegations New Delhi has rejected as «absurd» and «motivated», Charles Emond, chief executive, CDPQ, said he did not want to comment on government relations, but added «India is an important part of our APAC strategy,» during an exclusive interaction with ET. «And it remains a country where we continue to see strong potential over the long term.» He was recently in India, his first visit since he took over in 2020, just a month before Covid paralysed the world.

ESG reporting witnesses increase in global variance
US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week stayed the first-of-its-kind climate disclosure rules pending judicial review and amid a political backlash. The rules, adopted a month earlier, had taken two years to pass a pared down version and required public companies to disclose extensive climate change-related information in their regulatory filings. This development comes three months after China unveiled its ESG rules requiring companies to publish sustainability reports by 2026. In a significant move, the Supreme Court of India in a ruling released last week expanded the scope of Articles 14 and 21 to include the 'right against the adverse effects of climate change'.

Opposition pushing India towards instability: PM Modi
Ayodhya Ram temple issue to reach out to the tribal community in Chhattisgarh, alleging that the Congress opposed the consecration ceremony for appeasement politics. He also slammed the Congress on the Naxal issue at a rally in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. "Ram Navami is not very far. This time in Ayodhya our Ram Lalla will not give darshan in a tent but in a grand temple. But Congress and INDI alliance is very unhappy about this. They declined the invitation for pran pratishta. The Shahi pariwar of Congress threw out those leaders who declared this wrong. This shows Congress can cross any limit for appeasement politics," Modi said at a rally in Bastar. The PM emphasised that welfare of tribals has always been a top priority for BJP. He said a tribal is the president of India today and a record number of Eklavya schools for tribals have come up during his tenure. «Our priority has always been garib kalyan… Congress always ignored the welfare of the poor,» he said.

AAP govt slams 'total confusion' in LG's office over subjects transferred to Delhi govt
Delhi government on Monday slammed Lt Governor VK Saxena over a letter he wrote to the MHA in which he accused its ministers of not attending a meeting called by him, and questioned the role of the LG's office in the subjects transferred to the AAP government. The LG Secretariat, in a letter to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), said the Delhi ministers refused to attend a meeting called by Saxena to discuss the functioning of their ministries following the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy and is now lodged in Tihar jail here.

Broadband business seen bolstering Q4 revenues for Airtel and Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, India's top two telecom operators, are set to report modest sequential growth in their fiscal fourth-quarter India mobile revenue, supported mainly by strong broadband user additions in the absence of tariff hikes, analysts said. Vodafone Idea (Vi) is likely to report a sequential dip in its March-quarter revenue, stung by continued heavy customer losses. Jio and Airtel, though, are likely to report flattish operating margins, weighed down by higher 5G-related costs, the analysts said.

Generic Weight Loss Drugs Boosted by UK Approval for Biocon
Biocon is building capability “to take advantage of what could be a very, very strategic peptide opportunity with GLPs at the center," Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Bains told analysts in November. The loss of exclusivity for GLPs will create a multibillion dollar market over the next 10 years and this opportunity was “very complementary" to Biocon’s current biologics business, according to Bains. In the UK, Mittal said the company will wait for the publicly-funded, National Health Service, to issue a tender to launch its liraglutide injectible.
