'New income tax regime is yet to have any meaningful impact on ELSS schemes': AMC Expert
Edited Excerpts of an interview with Livemint 1) How do you assess the current domestic and global market conditions, and what factors are you closely monitoring? Inflation and geopolitical tension are the main factors impacting the global economy at present. US inflation, still hovering above the 3% level is proving to be stickier and more persistent, hence rates are likely to remain higher for the time being and any cut is unlikely in 1HCY24. To add to the concerns, the Red Sea attack by the Houthis added to higher freight rates across the globe.

The finance ministry held a meeting with multilateral lenders on March 7 and sought their inputs on what it termed a «budget-plus and finance-plus» strategy, which would essentially cover the entire spectrum of project execution and go beyond just planning and financing, people aware of the details told ET. The ministry has reached out to various multilateral bodies to help mobilise other development finance institutions (DFIs) and investors, they said. Last year, they had 39 sponsors with Viacom18 getting 26 sponsors and Disney Star, 13. Insurers' STRIPS trade value almost doubles in 10 months
Insurance companies' activity in India's government bond market continues at a tearing pace, with a particular type of favoured debt instrument seeing face value of trades surge 99% on-year from April to January, topping the ₹2 lakh crore mark. The face value of trades of Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal Securities, or STRIPS, in the government bond market has risen to ₹2.32 lakh crore in the first ten months of the current financial year against ₹1.16 lakh crore the same time a year ago, Clearing Corporation of India (CCIL) data showed. For FY23, the face value of STRIPS trades was at ₹1.34 lakh crore. «These (STRIPS) are suitable for the needs of insurance companies, as they enable them to manage their asset and liability risks. Life insurance companies, especially under traditional plans, have long-term liabilities, and instruments like long-term STRIPS help them reduce reinvestment risk and also increase the duration of their portfolios,» said Sachin Bajaj, executive vice president & head — investments, Max Life.

work from home (WFH) to championing work from office (WFO). Still, experts said once the dust settles, companies are likely to agree on a spectrum of working models from fully remote to hybrid to being in office. But right now, employers want to ensure that people actually show up in office, a push that's backed by changes in the job market.
