The Fish Importers’ Association in Kolkata had requested the Bangladesh government to allow the continuation of hilsa exports as per the usual practice. Since 2019, under the leadership of the now-deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh had been exporting over 1,000 tonnes of hilsa to India in the month leading up to Durga Puja. On August 9, the association wrote to Bangladesh government adviser Touhid Hossain, asking to permit limited hilsa trade. However, Farida Akhtar, an adviser to Bangladesh's fish and animal resource ministry, has refused the request, citing rising domestic demand. Reports from Dhaka indicate that Akhtar has instructed the commerce ministry to ensure no hilsa exports this year.

Sovereign Green Bonds (SGrB) through the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) was announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on August 29, 2024. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) introduced the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT), a digital upgrade aimed at enhancing passenger convenience by replacing daily QR tickets. Starting Friday, commuters can purchase this innovative ticket. The MJQRT is a step towards eco-friendliness and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional smart cards. «This initiative marks a significant milestone as it is the first QR-based multiple-journey product launched in India,» stated a DMRC official. Available exclusively through the DMRC's Delhi Metro Sarathi (Momentum 2.0) app, MJQRT offers a streamlined way to manage multiple journeys. Users need to register on the 2.0 app and start with a minimum amount of Rs 150, which will be used for metro travel. There is no security deposit required.

Nazara Technologies has acquired 47.7% stake in Moonshine Technology, the parent company of online poker gaming platform PokerBaazi, for Rs 832 crore through a secondary transaction. Additionally, Nazara will inject Rs 150 crores in primary capital into Moonshine via compulsory convertible preference shares, the Mumbai-based firm said in a stock exchange filing. Led by founder and CEO Navkiran Singh and cofounders Puneet Singh, Varun Ganjoo, Avneet Rana, and Anirudh Chaudhry, Moonshine generates over 85% of its net revenue from PokerBaazi, while its fantasy sports platform, SportsBaazi, contributes 12%. As of May 2024, PokerBaazi had around 340,000 monthly active users.

Indian Army apprehended an NSCM(IM) cadre and recovered war-like stores from Inthem Ghat in Pengree of Tinsukia district in Assam. IT hardware manufacturers are urging the government to significantly reduce the five-to-six-month certification process for locally-made laptops and notebooks, which they say is hindering production ramp-up under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware. Industry executives have informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) about the extended timelines for acquiring BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. This is due to the mandatory separate tests for battery packs installed on laptops, after running viability tests for making the products with local contract manufacturers. “Currently, because of the requirements of acquiring testing certificates for individual components like the battery pack as well as the laptop as a whole, the whole process takes around 5-6 months, where the products themselves have a shelf life of 8-10 months,” a senior executive at a leading IT hardware brand told ET on condition of anonymity.
