MH370 flight mystery solved? Missing Malaysian Airlines plane's 'hiding spot' found in Indian Ocean? What we know so far
MH370 flight mystery has been surrounded by a number of claims and conspiracy theories. However, in spite of the searches, the missing plane couldn't be tracked. Now, an Australian researcher has claimed to detect what he called «perfect hiding place» for Malaysia Airlines MH370 flight. An adjunct researcher at the University of Tasmania Vincent Lyne has claimed that MH370 flight disappeared in the south-eastern Indian Ocean's 20,000ft-deep oceanic plateau «hole» — Broken Ridge. Malaysia Airlines plane MH370 flight with 239 on board went off the radar as the Boeing 777 aircraft flew over Vietnam's airspace during the scheduled journey to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

India’s ‘sweet spot’ lures bond funds amid global market turmoil
debt market for 14 weeks in a second streak of buying this year, evidence of the country’s appeal amid the ructions of worldwide financial markets. With the prospect of interest rate cuts on the horizon and the rupee treading water near historic lows, offshore investors have bought roughly $7 billion net of the South Asian country’s bonds since May. That’s more than twice the sum of net purchases for Indonesia, to which it is often compared, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Moody's Ratings on Tuesday said rated Indian companies will spend USD 45-50 billion annually over the next 1-2 years towards capex as companies boost capacity, with the country's most valued firm Reliance Industries alone accounting for 30 per cent of the spendings. Investments to increase vertical integration and achieve net zero targets will also keep spending high, Moody's Ratings said in a report on corporates in India and Indonesia. «Rated Indian companies' capex will remain elevated at around USD 45-50 billion annually over the next one to two years. With an annual capex budget of around USD 15 billion spread across its different business segments, Reliance Industries alone will account for around 30 per cent of the portfolio capex,» Moody's Ratings said. The oil and gas sector and Reliance Industries will collectively account for over 60 per cent of the rated Indian portfolio's spending over the next couple of years.

Indonesia and Australia finalise new bilateral defence treaty
Indonesia and Australia on Tuesday finalised a new bilateral defence treaty that will enhance the neighbouring nations' ability to operate their militaries in each other's territory. The agreement was reached as Indonesian president-elect Prabowo Subianto, who also serves as defense minister, met with Australian officials at the country's Parliament earlier Tuesday. The bilateral relationship is becoming increasingly important to Australians in face of growing tensions with China. New Australian prime ministers typically make Jakarta one of their first overseas destinations. The pact will be signed within days, when Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles visits Jakarta.

TVS Motor Company plans to expand the sales of its electric vehicles to both developing and developed markets, betting big on India's potential to emerge as a major export hub for electric two-wheelers, according to Director and CEO KN Radhakrishnan. The company will leverage on its plant in Indonesia to cater to other neighbouring markets in the ASEAN region, where it has started selling its electric scooter TVS iQube last year, he told analysts. In the first quarter of this fiscal TVS Motor Co sold a total of 52,000 units of electric two-wheelers, as against 39,000 units in the same period last year. «We strongly believe that India will emerge as a major export hub for two-wheeler EVs. Nestle, PepsiCo in talks with Godrej Agrovet to buy palm oil
Packaged foods makers Nestle and PepsiCo are in talks with Godrej Agrovet, one of the country's largest producers of palm oil, to buy refined palm oil locally for some of their biggest brands such as Maggi instant noodles and Lay's potato chips, executives directly aware of the developments said. Multinationals are sourcing locally amid rising global prices of the commodity as well as logistics costs and heightened scrutiny on the quality of edible oils by the government under the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). They also aim to cut short months-long import buying cycles and circumvent any potential supply disruptions amid continued global geopolitical turmoil. So far, Nestle and PepsiCo have sourced palm oil primarily from Indonesia and Malaysia for Indian operations.

Singapore's Grab misses quarterly revenue estimates, shares drop
Grab Holdings missed second-quarter revenue estimates due to slower growth in its mainstay food-delivery business and foreign exchange headwinds, sending its U.S.-listed shares down 5% on Thursday. Growth has been slowing at the Southeast Asian tech company after the pandemic-era surge in food-delivery demand, with Grab laying off 11% of its workforce last year in a major restructuring aimed at narrowing losses. Sales from the deliveries business — its largest — grew 11% to $356 million, lower than Visible Alpha estimates of $362.1 million. That compares to growth of 19% in the first quarter, and a doubling of the business in certain quarters of 2023 and 2022.

Record low INR: Stability or imminent depreciation?
market volatility has been spurred by a confluence of factors. Weaker-than-anticipated US economic data has ignited concerns about a potential recession, with market estimates now placing its likelihood at 30-35%, a significant increase from the less than 10% projection in June 2024. Adding to the turbulence, the surprise rate hike by the Bank of Japan and the subsequent reversal of yen carry trades have exacerbated market uncertainty. The Indian Rupee has borne the brunt of this volatility, hitting near all-time lows and breaching its previous October 2022 record of INR 83.5. While the Rupee has depreciated in the short term, it has exhibited relative stability compared to other emerging and developed market currencies over the past six months. Is India losing focus on International Shipping Industry?
shipping industry worldwide. As per BIMCO’s Manpower study, which is published every 5 years (the last being published in 2021) India ranked as the 5th largest manpower supplier in Shipping globally. In 2021 together with Philippines, Russian Federation, Indonesia, China & India supplied bulk of the global workforce in shipping. These 5 countries collectively accounted for 44% of global supply of seafarers. India accounted for 2,50,071 active seafarers of which 1,51,840 were Ratings & 98,231 were officers. Chinese seafarers catermainly to their own national flag and / or coastal ships. The reason for Chinese being limited to their national industry is obviously due to their language barrier.
