UPS BLOCK Deal G-20 Sherpas reach deal on wording for Russia war in Ukraine
Group of 20 nations have hammered out compromise language on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, overcoming differences between Moscow and the rest of the group that had threatened to derail hopes of a joint communique from this weekend’s summit. The phrasing is broadly similar to that agreed at last year’s summit in Bali, Indonesia, according to people familiar with the discussions. They asked not to be identified to describe internal deliberations. The language still must be approved by G-20 leaders, but that’s seen as likely now that senior staff have agreed on the language, they said. The US and its allies had sought tougher phrasing than the Bali compromise to denounce what they see as Russia’s aggression, while Moscow wanted to weaken the reference — and for a time enjoyed the support of China.

MET Cooper Waters country Southeast Asians wary of new conflicts as big powers join ASEAN summit
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov joined the summit in the Indonesian capital led by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), along with leaders of other partner countries. Tensions have accompanied the talks on issues from trade and technology, to China's increasing assertiveness in the South China Sea, the Myanmar junta's refusal to cooperate with ASEAN on a peace plan, the war in Ukraine, and suspicion that North Korea plans to supply weapons to Russia. Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries have warned this week of «destructive» rivalries between major powers, a reference to U.S.-China tensions that they say puts them in danger. «We all have a responsibility to not create new conflict, new tension, new war and at the same time we also have a responsibility to reduce tensions,» Widodo, as chair of the 10-member ASEAN bloc this year, said at the beginning of the East Asia Summit. Cooperation and multilateralism risked being replaced by «the rule of the strong». «The world will be destroyed if conflicts and tensions in one place are taken to another place,» he said in closing the summit. On Wednesday, China's Li warned against starting a «new Cold War» and warned countries against taking sides in any conflict. Harris, attending in place of President Joe Biden, reiterated her country's «enduring commitment» to Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific. A White House official said earlier the U.S.

Career Pool IBM show Time elon Elon Musk gets snapped for the 1st time with twins Strider & Azure, pics go viral on X
Musk was seen for the first time with his twins Strider and Azure, along with their mother, venture capitalist Shivon Zhilis. The picture was shared by Musk’s biographer Walter Isaacson, on his X handle. In the picture, the 52-year-old business tycoon could be seen sitting cross-legged on a couch with one of the twins on his lap, while the other is being held by Zhilis. Another picture shows one of the twins hovering near a robot. Dropping the pictures, the veteran journalist wrote, “Ever since imbibing Isaac Asimov's stories as a kid, Musk has worried that our robots could turn on us. This Time excerpt explains why and what he’s doing about it.” “For a moment I was struck by the oddness of the scene,” Isaacson wrote. “We were sitting on a suburban patio by a tranquil backyard swimming pool on a sunny spring day, with two bright-eyed twins learning to toddle, as Musk somberly speculated about the window of opportunity for building a sustainable human colony on Mars before an AI apocalypse destroyed earthly civilization,” he tweeted. The photo was taken at Zilis’s home in Austin, Texas. The twins were born in November 2021, weeks before Musk and Canadian songstress Grimes welcomed their second child via surrogacy.
