"All men 16 years and above, raise your hands," Arabic speaking Israeli soldiers shouted, as they entered into the main building, news agency AFP reported, citing a journalist present at the spot.

Biden, Xi meeting is aimed at getting relationship back on better footing, but tough issues loom
Joe Biden and Xi Jinping head into their big meeting at a country estate on Wednesday hoping to stabilise US-China relations after a period of tumult, but the US president also is prepared to confront his counterpart on difficult issues such as trade, Beijing's burgeoning relationship with Iran and human rights concerns. The two leaders, who will meet on the sidelines of a summit of Asian-Pacific leaders, last spoke a year ago. Since then, already fraught ties between the two economic superpowers have been further strained by the U.S.

"Being able to pick up phone, talk to one another": Biden says goal of meeting with Xi is to 'normalise' US-China communication
Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden has said that for him, the idea of a successful meeting is to get back on a normal course of corresponding, and being able to pick up the phone and talk to one another whenever there is a crisis, US-based ABC7 news reported. Even though Biden has a full schedule for the 30th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, his meeting with Xi Jinping on Wednesday is the most crucial one. Their four-hour meeting is scheduled to take place at San Mateo County's Filoli Estate. «To get back on a normal course of corresponding, being able to pick up the phone and talk to one another when there's another crisis,» Biden said, shortly before departing for San Francisco on Tuesday. «Being able to make sure our militaries still have contact with one another,» he told reporters at the White House. According to ABC7 News, there are reports circulating that say that an agreement could be announced on Wednesday that would address source material involved in the illegal fentanyl trade. Prior to their respective trips to San Francisco, Biden hosted meetings with fellow APEC leader Joko Widodo of Indonesia on Monday at the White House. The president of the most populous Muslim nation in the world, Widodo, has been vehemently critical of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip; thus the visit to the Oval Office came at a rather uncomfortable time, reported ABC7 News. In contrast, Biden has not wavered in his support of Israel's right to self-defence in the wake of the 1,200-death onslaught on October 7 by Hamas terrorists.

Alex Pereira rises to top 5 in ranking after UFC 295 achievement
Pereira won his second UFC championship in just his seventh fight for the promotion. Pereira, who won the middleweight championship last November at MSG, badly hurt Procházka and the fight was stopped at 4:08 of the second round. Procházka had won 13 straight MMA fights, including his first three in UFC. Pereira became the ninth fighter in UFC history to win championships in two weight classes. Pereira scored a superb second-round knockout win over Jiri Prochazka to claim the light heavyweight crown at UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden, 364 days after winning the middleweight title at the same venue. The 36-year-old kickboxer landed a short left hook late in the second frame to stun his Czech opponent and followed it up with a flurry of fists and elbows that further impaired Prochazka, forcing referee Marc Goddard to stop the fight. Brazil's Pereira, who knocked out Israel Adesanya on November 12 last year to win the middleweight belt before losing it in April in a rematch, had some early success with some vicious leg kicks, but Prochazka's precise striking posed a problem. UFC now holds the top-three spots for highest gate at the Garden. Also, Sunday marks 30 years since the company's debut show, UFC 1.
