Apple reports record quarterly revenue in India despite smartphone shipment dip
Apple on Friday reported yet another quarterly revenue record in India for the third quarter ending June 29, 2024, continuing the high pace of growth in the world’s second largest smartphone market where consumers are continuing to buy premium products. Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook told analysts in its third quarter earnings call that Apple has set “quarterly revenue records in more than two dozen countries and regions, including Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, the UK, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.” The bullish performance by the iPhone maker is when smartphone shipments in India fell 2% year-on-year in the June quarter as per market tracker Counterpoint Research which attributed the decline to the heatwave, seasonal slump, and a sequential slowdown in demand from the March quarter before.

Why did Mark Zuckerberg-owned Facebook apologize for censoring Donald Trump's assassination attempt image? Details here
Facebook has admitted that it has committed a mistake by censoring the image of Donald Trump's assassination attempt. The Mark Zuckerberg-owned social media platform called the image of Donald Trump pumping his fist in the air after an assassination attempt against him an «altered photo.» After facing criticism, a spokesperson admitted Monday that it was a mistake. Meta Public Affairs Director Dani Lever explained on X it was an error as the systems were meant to detect a separate version of the image, reports 'Fox News Digital'. He explained that the fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the Secret Service agents smiling, and in some cases, our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. Tendering an apology, Lever said that it had been fixed.
