The amendment to the Citizenship Act of 1955 passed by Parliament in 2019 is yet to be implemented, as rules have not been framed. The amendment makes it easier to get Indian citizenship for Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians who entered the country on or before December 31, 2014 from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Shah said victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots got justice after the Modi government came to power in 2014.
