‘Video of the day for me’: Wasim Akram impressed after a young Pakistani boy imitates Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is noted not only for his remarkable consistency with the ball throughout formats, but also for his distinct bowling action. He made news for the first time after making his IPL debut, and his unusual action drew notice. Bumrah was sidelined for several months due to a back ailment, raising concerns about whether the top bowler would be able to bowl with the same energy that catapulted him to world-class status. Bumrah rebounded back in style, playing key roles in India's unbroken march to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and, this month, producing a player-of-the-tournament performance to help India win the T20 World Cup. Wasim Akram was overjoyed when a video of a young Pakistani fan successfully copying Jasprit Bumrah's unique bowling movement went viral. Bumrah, one of the world's top pacers, has been an inspiration to many aspiring pacers throughout the world. The little Pakistani boy's impersonation has struck a special chord with fans and cricketing groups worldwide.

'Hidden terrorism' trend emerges in J-K, security agencies on high alert
Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with what they call the "hidden threat" of "conservation and consolidation" tactics employed by infiltrating terrorists, which was evident in the recent ambushes and encounters in North Kashmir and Kathua district. Analysing the ambushes and encounters with terrorists, officials in the know of the matter said while security agencies are on high alert, the lack of ground-level intelligence — human intelligence (HUMINT) — hampers operations. Reliance on technical intelligence (TECHINT) has not been fruitful as terrorists use online activity to mislead authorities. Officials feel that there is an urgent need for heightened surveillance to counter foreign terrorists, especially in the Jammu region. The region, previously known for its peaceful atmosphere, has recently seen a surge in terror incidents, particularly in border districts such as Poonch, Rajouri, Doda and Reasi. Attacks on an IAF convoy, a pilgrim bus and the recent killing of soldiers in Kathua highlight the evolving threat.

Holding Pak responsible for terror not sufficient, need to go for self-introspection: Jitendra Singh
Jitendra Singh on Saturday said holding only Pakistan responsible for the recent spike in terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir is not sufficient as he called for self-introspection to end illegal activities, which benefit terrorism in the Union Territory. He said the government is implementing a new strategy, which includes deployment of army in the higher reaches to ensure that peace is restored within one week in Kathua, where five army personnel were killed and an equal number injured in an ambush by the terrorists on July 8. «The recent terror incidents (in Jammu region) carried out by infiltrators from Pakistan is condemnable. But repeatedly saying that Pakistan has done this is not sufficient. We have to ask ourselves and inner-souls what we have done to end social evils which are benefitting terrorism,» the minister of state in the prime minister's office told reporters in Kathua. The minister was in Kathua, part of his Udhampur parliamentary constituency, for a 'Public Darbar' — his first after getting elected for the third term — to meet the public and resolve their issues. Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas and other officers were also present.

Pakistan defense minister vows ‘no cake and pastries’ for TTP militants, after apparent China's warning
Khawaja Asif, has confirmed that the country will persist in launching military strikes against Afghanistan to counter terrorism. Speaking to BBC, he emphasized that these operations are a necessary response to attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians, stating, «We won’t serve them with cake and pastries.» Instead, he said, Pakistan is prepared to retaliate forcefully against any aggression. The aerial strikes, part of a broader military campaign called «Resolve for Stability,» are aimed at militant groups that Pakistan accuses of operating from Afghan soil. Relations between the two countries have deteriorated, with Islamabad accusing Kabul of not doing enough to curb these militant groups, particularly the Pakistani Taliban or TTP, which allegedly have sanctuaries in Afghanistan. Pakistan's government maintains that its military actions are justified and necessary to safeguard its national security. Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. Pakistan alleges that despite its repeated requests, the Afghan Taliban has been reluctant to take action against the TTP, which has been using Afghan territory to launch attacks on Pakistan. Asif asserted that Pakistan's strikes are a direct response to these threats, dismissing concerns over the legality of the operations and stating that informing the Taliban of impending attacks would compromise the element of surprise.

They emphasise the need to redefine the roles prescribed to women by Pakistsociety and the government.
