In a diplomatic quirk, Russia chairs a UN meeting decrying its strike on a Ukraine kids' hospital
UN Security Council members confronted Russia on Tuesday over a missile strike the previous day that destroyed part of Ukraine's largest children's hospital, pouring out condemnations at an emergency meeting chaired by Moscow's own ambassador. Russia denies responsibility for the strike at the hospital, where at least two staffers were killed. France and Ecuador asked for the session at the Security Council, but Russia led it as the current holder of the council's rotating presidency, putting Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia on the receiving end of the criticism. «Mr President, please stop this war. Ukraine brings AI weapons to front lines
To demonstrate it, Oleksii Babenko, 25, Vyriy's chief executive, hopped on his motorcycle and rode down a dirt path. Behind him, a drone followed, as a colleague tracked the movements from a briefcase-size computer. Until recently, a human would have piloted the quadcopter. No longer. Instead, after the drone locked onto its target — Mr. Babenko — it flew itself, guided by software that used the machine's camera to track him.

Modi-Putin phone calls shaped Indian PM’s decision to visit Moscow for annual summit
annual summit surprised many in the international community, the genesis of this visit was two telephone conversations between President Vladimir Putin and the Indian PM this year. The two first spoke following Putin’s Presidential polls victory in March. This was followed by Putin’s call to Modi (first P5 leader to telephone the PM) after BJP-led NDA’s election victory on June 4. ET has learnt that during the conversations the two discussed the possible visit by Modi for annual summit and it was decided that the PM could probably visit Russia by middle of this year. Make no mistake, Russia failing in this war: US President Joe Biden
Joe Biden on Tuesday announced a historic donation of air-defence equipment for Ukraine and said Russia is failing in this war. Welcoming leaders of NATO member countries for the historic summit on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, Biden said the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Italy will provide Ukraine with the equipment for five additional strategic air-defence systems. In the coming months, the US and its partners intend to provide Ukraine with dozens of additional tactical air-defence systems, he said, adding that the US will make sure that when «we export critical air-defence interceptors, Ukraine goes to the front of the line». «They will get this assistance before anyone else gets it. All told, Ukraine will receive hundreds of additional interceptors over the next year, helping protect Ukrainian cities against Russian missile and Ukrainian troops facing air attacks on their front lines,» Biden said.

Ukraine’s European allies are either broke, small or irresolute
The perfect European, or so the sarcastic quip goes, should drive like a Frenchman, cook like the Dutch, be as organised as the Greeks and as humorous as a German. A variant of the joke might haunt those trying to devise the perfect ally for Ukraine as it fends off Russian aggression. Imagine a country the size of Latvia, with the budget problems of the hard-up Italians, the willingness to pitch in of Kremlin-loving Hungarians and the arms industry of neutral Ireland.
