In contrast, states like Wyoming, Montana, Iowa, Mississippi, and South Dakota experienced fewer than 500 people moving from New York during 2022. The primary motivations behind Americans' decisions to relocate in 2022 were centered on enhancing their overall quality of life, seeking more affordable living areas, and securing larger homes. A significant portion, nearly a quarter, identified quality of life as the foremost factor influencing their choice to relocate to a different state.
