Texas Rangers acquires Max Scherzer in blockbuster trade with the New York Mets after losing 4-0 to San Diego Padres, their 6th loss in 8 games
Texas Rangers have made a significant move to bolster their pitching rotation, agreeing to acquire three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer from the New York Mets. The deal, still awaiting official announcement, comes amidst the Rangers' recent struggles, with a 4-0 loss to the San Diego Padres being their sixth defeat in eight games, narrowing their AL West lead to just one game over the Houston Astros. The blockbuster trade sees the Rangers add the 39-year-old Scherzer, a highly accomplished pitcher with a stellar track record. This acquisition comes as a timely boost for the team, with their ace Nathan Eovaldi experiencing setbacks, causing his next start to be pushed back once again. Manager Bruce Bochy has expressed the need for the rotation to improve, making Scherzer's arrival all the more crucial. Meanwhile, Scherzer's addition to the Rangers' roster means joining forces with another former Mets pitcher, the two-time Cy Young Award winner, Jacob deGrom. Unfortunately, deGrom is currently sidelined due to Tommy John elbow surgery, potentially keeping him out of action until the end of next season.

Rapper G Herbo pleads guilty in credit card fraud, faces upto 25 years in prison
rapper G Herbo pleaded guilty Friday to his role in a scheme that used stolen credit card information to pay for a lavish lifestyle including private jets, exotic car rentals, a luxury vacation rental and even expensive designer puppies. Under a deal with prosecutors, the 27-year-old Chicago rapper, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, entered a guilty plea in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts, to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making false statements. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed several counts of aggravated identity theft. He also agreed to forfeit nearly $140,000, the amount he benefited from what prosecutors have said was a $1.5 million scheme that involved several other people. «Mr. Wright used stolen account information as his very own unlimited funding source, using victims' payment cards to finance an extravagant lifestyle and advance his career,» acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy said in a statement. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7, and he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison. A voicemail seeking comment was left with his attorney.

Natural Gas Pioneer Puts Investment Vehicle Into Bankruptcy
An investment vehicle owned by U.S. natural-gas entrepreneur Charif Souki has filed for bankruptcy and is suing its lenders to prevent foreclosure of its assets, including shares of a family-owned business and a luxury ranch. Strudel Holdings said it sought protection from creditors Thursday so it can sell those assets “in an orderly manner at fair market value rather than having them disposed of in the commercially unreasonable manner." Strudel, along with its bankrupt affiliate AVR AH, and Souki, also filed a lawsuit Thursday, accusing investment manager UBS O’Connor, administrative agent Wilmington Trust and lenders including Nineteen77 Capital Solutions of breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing.

You Can’t Have an Oil Rally and Low Inflation, Too
Back in June, I wrote that in a perfect world, oil would be at $80 a barrel then itself, $90 in July and $100 by August. Well, it’s taken a little longer to get both U.S. crude and global benchmark Brent moving appropriately higher. But it’s still not a perfect world by any means, because this new rally in oil might worsen an old problem: inflation.
