Slip of tongue or gaffe? Kamala Harris calls herself 'president', crowd applauds her wildly
Kamala Harris called herself 'president', the crowd went crazy and cheered her wildly. It shows how her popularity is soaring and how Democrat voters and local leaders think about her. It happened when Kamala Harris was delivering a eulogy for the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) Thursday. Standing beside stalwarts like Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris recalled that Jackson Lee introduced legislation to make Juneteenth, the day marking the end of slavery in the US – a federal holiday.

Will Taylor Swift endorse Kamala? Here's all about the Swifties' movement to elect Harris
Taylor Swift has not yet indicated whether she would support Democrat presumptive nominee Kamala Harris, but her fans have come out in the open and backed the first black vice president of the country. They have set up a group called 'Swifties for Kamala', which has taken the shape of a movement with hundreds of thousands of people joining it and dominating the social media space. It started when Texas college student Emerald Medrano took to X and wrote in a post that he feels like U.S swifties should mass organize and help campaign for Kamala Harris and spread how horrendous Project 2025 would be.

US weekly jobless claims rise to 11-month high
unemployment benefits increased to an 11-month high last week, suggesting some softening in the labor market, though claims tend to be volatile around this time of the year. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 14,000 to a seasonally adjusted 249,000 for the week ended July 27, the highest level since August last year, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 236,000 claims for the latest week. Claims have been on an upward trend since June, with part of the rise blamed on volatility related to temporary motor vehicle plant shutdowns for retooling and disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl in Texas.

103 earthquakes in 80 days in Texas! Are oil and gas extractions responsible for this? Details here
Texas has experienced 103 earthquakes in 80 days with some of them measuring about 5 on the Richter scale? Justin Rubinstein, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, has said Texas has experienced a total of 103 earthquakes, including 12 of magnitude three or more, reports 'USA Today'. He also said that the state is not a seismically active part of the country and these earthquakes are not occurring naturally. Explaining the phenomenon, Rubinstein said it is «almost 99% likely» to be linked to local oil fields.
