University of Michigan's football program under NCAA scanner. Here's why
University of Michigan's football program is currently facing a second NCAA investigation, with the latest inquiry centered around alleged violations of rules regarding sign-stealing. These rules prohibit in-person scouting of upcoming opponents. Michigan has been frequently entangled with the NCAA in the past year. This development was initially reported by Yahoo Sports on Thursday and was subsequently confirmed by the conference through a social media announcement. The specific NCAA bylaw under scrutiny is 11.6.1, which explicitly states that «off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited.» The NCAA's regulations do not include specific rules against sign-stealing. However, they do prohibit in-person advanced scouting of opponents and have bylaws in place to prevent unsportsmanlike activities. The Wolverines, currently holding a 7-0 record, are scheduled to face Michigan State this Saturday. Meanwhile, Cincinnati transfers Aziz Bandaogo and Jamille Reynolds had waivers rejected by the NCAA last week, prompting the Bearcats to file an appeal in hopes of getting both cleared to play when the college basketball season begins in a few weeks. Bandaogo played two seasons at Akron before spending last season at Utah Valley, where the 7-footer from Senegal averaged 11.5 points and 10.4 rebounds. Reynolds spent his first two seasons with UCF which, like the Bearcats, is joining the Big 12 this season, before averaging 10.1 points in his lone season at Temple. The NCAA has strict guidelines when it comes to players transferring a second time, a topic that has angered some coaches.

The ‘Ring of Fire’ Solar Eclipse: When and where to witness this celestial spectacle
solar eclipse produces a mesmerizing "ring of fire." These unique celestial occurrences are similar to total solar eclipses, with one crucial difference — the moon is positioned at the farthest point in its orbit from Earth, preventing it from completely obscuring the sun. This results in a breathtaking display as the sun's brilliant light encircles the moon's shadow.

Fed's Waller: Fed can "watch and see" if further hikes needed
Christopher Waller on Wednesday said higher market interest rates may help the Fed slow inflation, and let the central bank «watch and see» if its own policy rate needs to rise again or not. Waller, who has been among the most vocal advocates for higher interest rates to fight inflation, said price data seemed to now be moving back towards the Fed's 2% target, with financial markets adding further credit tightening of their own. «We're in this position where we kind of watch and see what happens on rates,» said Waller, who was interviewed by former Republican House Speaker and Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan at a high-profile GOP event in Utah. «The financial markets are tightening up and they are going to do some of the work for us...We are just keeping a very close eye on that.

Tim Ballard, the individual whose life story inspired the movie «Sound of Freedom,» with accusations of sexual assault and battery. The lawsuit, filed in the Third Judicial District Court of Utah on Monday, follows the recent revelation that Ballard had resigned from Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), the non-profit organization he established. Ballard had been under investigation by an independent firm hired by O.U.R., examining allegations of coercing at least seven women into playing the role of «wives» during overseas missions, an allegation he vehemently denied. The lawsuit, which was filed on Monday, includes a woman referred to as «WW.» She had reached out to Ballard on Instagram in April 2021, suspecting that the person she was dating might be involved in human trafficking.

These Big-Budget Playrooms Will Make You Wish You Were a Kid Again
When Shellie and Perry Pardoe moved from northern Utah to Salt Lake City, they quickly realized that as empty-nesters, they didn’t need all five bedrooms in their house. But they did look forward to visits from their seven grandchildren and other young members of the family. So they spent about $30,000 to turn one of the bedrooms into a “fantasy reading forest" playroom for the grandkids, complete with treehouses, a climbing wall and a hideaway with two swinging hammocks.
