UPS Citi Myanmar Experts Universities country Colleges The science behind the powerful earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand
Sagaing region near the Myanmar city of Mandalay caused extensive damage in that country and also shook neighbouring Thailand on Friday. HOW VULNERABLE IS MYANMAR TO EARTHQUAKES? Myanmar lies on the boundary between two tectonic plates and is one of the world's most seismically active countries, although large and destructive earthquakes have been relatively rare in the Sagaing region. «The plate boundary between the India Plate and Eurasia Plate runs approximately north-south, cutting through the middle of the country,» said Joanna Faure Walker, a professor and earthquake expert at University College London. She said the plates move past each other horizontally at different speeds. While this causes «strike slip» quakes that are normally less powerful than those seen in «subduction zones» like Sumatra, where one plate slides under another, they can still reach magnitudes of 7 to 8.

Min Aung Hlaing said as he announced on television that at least 144 people were killed and 730 others were injured in his country. UPS security Trade country testing rights China President Xi tests US allies in Indo-Pacific as Trump is busy elsewhere
Xi Jinping is making China’s presence more felt across the Indo-Pacific region by testing US allies on sensitive issues, as Donald Trump’s attention is taken up elsewhere. From sending warships off Australia’s coast for unprecedented shooting drills to flying a record number of “grey zone” balloons around Taiwan, and putting pressure on Thailand over human rights issues, Beijing is ramping up efforts to project power in the region. China also issued a strongly worded warning on Taiwan to Tokyo — which doesn’t officially recognize Taipei — against “colluding” with separatists. Trump’s sudden embrace of Russia, skepticism of NATO allies and tariffs that punish friendly nations have fueled concerns about the US as a reliable security partner in Asia, where Washington has for decades provided a buffer to Beijing.

Pam's philosophy rests on 5    elements — salt, acid, spice, texture and the Maillard reaction — each woven into an 11- course tasting menu. The dishes — modern interpretation of Pad Thai, a crab dish with roe, and duck — are beautifully composed, with bold yet familiar flavours, and presentations that avoid unnecessary frills.
