Boris Johnson alleges Russian President Putin "must have killed" Wagner boss Prigozhin
Vladimir Putin «must have killed» Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that there can be no peace negotiation with Putin on Ukraine, CNN reported. Johnson wrote in an op-ed, speculating about Prigozhin's last moments, a few days after a plane carrying the Wagner boss crashed in a field northwest of Moscow. The reason behind the plane crash remains uncertain, but the US and Western intelligence officials told CNN that it was deliberate. «It can't have been more than a few seconds between the explosion aboard the otherwise reliable Embraer Legacy 600 executive jet, and the moment the Russian thug blacked out in his vertiginous acceleration to earth; and yet in that instant I am certain that he knew with perfect clarity what had happened,» Johnson wrote, according to CNN. «He knew whose hidden hand was sending him 28,000 ft down, to be immolated with the rest of his Wagner group companions in a fireball in the countryside of the Tver region north of Moscow — and then on downwards, of course, for the shade of Prigozhin: down, down to Hades and the Tartarean pit below.» The former UK PM went on to say that the man allegedly «behind the killing of Prigozhin» was «the very same man who authorised, for instance, the poisonings in the UK of Alexander Litvinenko and Sergei Skripal.» «As the detonation sucked the air out of the aircraft's cabin, I would wager that the last thought in the doomed dome of Prigozhin's skull was 'Putin!', preceded by one of the many profanities in which the former jailbird and hotdog salesman was so fluent,» Johnson wrote, as reported by CNN. Prigozhin is believed to have died in a plane crash exactly two months after he instigated a brief uprising in Russia. Wheth

G20's mandate can't advance if Global South concerns not met: S Jaishankar
G20 is to promote economic growth and development, and that cannot advance if the crucial concerns of the Global South are not addressed, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday. «For a variety of reasons that range from scale, subsidy, technology, human resources & strategic choices, the Global South was reduced to being a consumer rather than a producer,» Jaishankar said in his address at the B20 Summit organised by CII ahead of the September 9-10 G20 Summit. «It is, however, an undeniable reality that the international system remains dominated by the Global North. This is naturally reflected in the composition of G20 as well.

Prigozhin: Russia's mercenary supremo turned Kremlin enemy
Yevgeny Prigozhin, who was confirmed dead on Sunday by Russia's Investigatice Committee after a plane crash near Moscow, was a Kremlin confident catapulted to infamy by the offensive in Ukraine before he turned his troops on Russia's capital. Prigozhin's order in June that his private fighting group march on Moscow to unseat Russia's top brass presented the most serious challenge to President Vladimir Putin's hold on power over more than two-decades. His forces captured a key military headquarters in the city of Rostov-on-Don in southern Russian before setting their course for Moscow, where authorities beefed up security in anticipation of a showdown. «The evil that the military leadership of the country brings must be stopped,» Prigozhin announced after claiming the defence ministry had launched strikes on Wagner bases. But the failed bid ended with Putin ultimately offering exile in neighbouring Belarus to the mutineers and Prigozhin, who then appeared in footage vowing to make Africa «freer» and suggested he was on the continent. Before Putin, who accused Prigozhin of treason, ordered troops to Ukraine in February last year, the 62-year-old mercenary head dispatched fighters from his private force to conflicts in the Middle East and Africa but always denied involvement. That changed last year when he announced himself as the founder of the Wagner group and began a mass recruitment drive at Russia's prisons for foot soldiers to fight in exchange for an amnesty. — Bitter top brass rivalry — He gained public acclaim as Wagner spearheaded the capture of several key Ukrainian towns including Bakhmut.

‘Plane will fall..’ Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin's old video sparks theories on his fate
Kremlin said Western suggestions he had been killed on its orders were an "absolute lie." In the clip, taken from an interview originally published on April 29 with Russian military blogger Semyon Pegov, Prigozhin said Russia was on the brink of disaster because the defence establishment was gradually kicking out truth-tellers who refused to suck up to upper management, Reuters has reported. "Today we have reached the boiling point," he said in the clip published on Grey Zone, Wagner's Telegram channel. "Why am I speaking so honestly? Because I don't have the right, before those people who will live on in this country.

EU looking at petroleum products made from Russian crude oil in India finding way to its market
petroleum products made from Russian crude oil in India finding way to the European market, saying it defies the purpose of the sanctions against Moscow that are aimed at reducing its ability to finance the war with Ukraine. The European Union's Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, said oil products processed from Russian crude oil are arriving at the European market in «large quantities» and the grouping is looking at ways to deal with it. In an interaction with a small group of journalists, the EU Vice President, currently on a visit to India, accused Russia of using its energy supplies, and food as «tools» of «war and manipulation» to continue its attack on Ukraine. On the issue of food, Dombrovskis cited Russia withdrawing from the Black Sea grain initiative and blocking Ukraine's export of food grain to the world market. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February last year, the Western powers have imposed a series of sanctions on Moscow including a price cap on Russian oil by G7-plus nations, in order to reduce its ability to finance the war on Ukraine.
