No evidence of 'UFOs or aliens' found by US government, reports Pentagon
UFOs or aliens, attributing most sightings to «ordinary objects» that are the result of misidentification. This conclusion was revealed in a 63-page report titled «Historical Record of US Government Involvement with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP)» by the Pentagon. The report stated that the Department of Defense's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) found no evidence of any US government investigation, research, or review panel verifying that a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology. The report is part of the US government's broader public examination of UFOs, or «unidentified anomalous phenomena,» which has included Congress hearings and open discussions with US space agency NASA officials. Despite these findings, US officials acknowledged that the public's perception of alien visits may not be dispelled. The report noted that the proliferation of television programs, books, movies, and internet and social media content focused on UAP-related topics has likely influenced the public conversation and reinforced beliefs within some sections of the population.

US Consulate in Mumbai eases backlog by screening 1500 applications in 'Super Saturday' visa drive
US Consulate in Mumbai organized a special 'Super Saturday' drive on March 9, screening 1,500 visa applicants. The diverse group of applicants included elderly parents visiting their children, students pursuing education abroad, temporaorkers, tourists, and businessmen, many of whom were first-time visitors. 'Super Saturday' drives, initiated sporadically since 2022, are set to become a quarterly feature going forward. The surge in demand had previously led to a waiting period of up to 1,000 days. However, concerted efforts to increase manpower and resources have significantly reduced the backlog, according to visa chief Katherine Estes. The consulate has encouraged individuals to apply directly rather than relying on agents, emphasizing the importance of monitoring the consulate's website for visa appointment openings. On the 'Super Saturday,' consular authorities made arrangements for seating, water, food, and wheelchairs to facilitate the applicants' experience.

European Central Bank left interest rates unchanged for a fourth meeting as a softer outlook for inflation and economic growth bolstered expectations for cuts starting in June. Separate data showed the euro-area economy stagnated at the end of last year, underscoring the central bank’s forecast for slower growth in 2024 than previously estimated. In the US, the unemployment rate climbed to a two-year high in February even as hiring remained healthy, pointing to a cooler yet resilient labour market. In Japan, inflation in Tokyo last month surged back above the central bank’s target, bolstering the case to raise interest rates.
