₹4 trillion. To put it in context, that is around 8% of the budget’s total expenditure, second only to defence in its non-interest expenditure pie. Add to it separate outlays from state governments—state-level top-ups for minimum support prices (MSPs), power subsidies, etc—and the amount is likely to go up substantially.

'Dune' sequel opens big in US, crosses $81 mn on day 1
Warner Bros.' new sci-fi film «Dune: Part Two» shot to the top of the North American box office this weekend, taking in an estimated $81.5 million, industry watcher Exhibitor Relations reported Sunday. «This is an outstanding opening» for a sci-fi sequel, said analyst David A. Gross, adding that a sprawling international cast including Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Lea Seydoux and Javier Bardem had provided an added boost. Denis Villeneuve's epic sequel to the original «Dune» — based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel about war and survival on the deeply inhospitable desert planet of Arrakis — saw the young year's largest opening, roughly doubling the original film's opening. «Dune: Part Two» has taken in an additional $97 million abroad.

Google vs Indian startups row: its global implications
The fundamental reason for Google suspending Indian apps was the non-payment of its Play Store “service fee"—a charge that Google levies on apps that earn through subscriptions. At the moment, this fee ranges from 11% to 30%. Startups, including Bharat Matrimony and Shaadi.com, have refused to pay up.

Trump wins Colorado ballot disqualification case at US Supreme Court
U.S. Supreme Court handed Donald Trump a major victory on Monday as he campaigns to regain the presidency, overturning a judicial decision that had excluded him from Colorado's ballot under a constitutional provision involving insurrection for inciting and supporting the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. The justices unanimously reversed a Dec. 19 decision by Colorado's top court to kick Trump off the state's Republican primary ballot on Tuesday after finding that the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment disqualified him from again holding public office.
