MET BBC Celebrity singer 2020 reports travelers Sophie Turner files legal petition against Joe Jonas, alleges 'detention' of children
Joe Jonas, seeking the return of their two children to their «habitual residence» in England. The celebrity couple recently announced their divorce after over four years of marriage, describing it as an amicable split. However, 27-year-old Turner's lawyers filed a legal petition on Thursday, alleging the «wrongful detention» of their children in New York, as per a BBC report. Joe Jonas, the 34-year-old American singer from the Jonas Brothers, is pursuing joint custody of their two daughters, namely Willa, born in 2020, and their second child, whose name has not been disclosed publicly and was born last year. According to Turner's legal petition, they had established England as their «permanent home» in April. The documents reveal that Jonas incorrectly asserted in his divorce application that the children, who hold dual citizenship, had been residing in Florida for six months before the filing. The petition further explains that Turner and Jonas had previously agreed to allow the children to travel to the United States in August, where their father was on tour. However, this arrangement was intended to be temporary. The court documents state that Turner and Jonas met late last week to discuss their separation, during which Turner reiterated the «agreed plan» for the children to return «home to England.» Nevertheless, Jonas allegedly refused to return their passports and send them to the UK. Currently, Turner is reported to be in New York with the children. In response to these allegations, a representative for Joe Jonas informed CNN that their meeting on Sunday had been «cordial,» and it was their understanding that they had reached an agreement to cooperate in establishing an amicable co-parenting arrangement.
