Suzuki sees India’s automobile market growing fivefold by 2047
battery electric vehicles, Suzuki Motor Corp. Executive Vice President Kenichi Ayukawa said. First, the goal is for Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the Japanese carmaker’s subsidiary, to grab 50% market share by 2030, from around 40% for the fiscal year through March. “We’re confident that the Indian market will expand in the mid to long term,” Ayukawa said in an interview. The emergence of India as an economic powerhouse and its expanding middle class present a clear opportunity for the Hamamatsu-based manufacturer, which has been active in the South Asian nation since 1983 and has found success as the top-selling automaker with models such as Swift and Brezza. In order to keep its lead, Suzuki plans to introduce its first-ever EV in India, as well as in Europe, next year after exhibiting its mass production model at the upcoming auto expo in India in January, according to Ayukawa.

US Presidential election 2024: Kamala Harris or Donald Trump - who is winning?
Donald Trump", all eyes are now on the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair. Questions have now turned to Harris' electoral viability — and how she might perform against former President Donald Trump. Across recent polls, Harris trails Trump by 2 percentage points nationally on average, 46 per cent to 48 per cent. This is an improvement over Biden's standing in the race: He trailed the Trump by 3 percentage points in the polling average, 47 per cent to 44 per cent, as per a report on NYT News Service. In recent swing state polls, taken before Biden announced he would withdraw from the presidential race and completed before the assassination attempt on Trump, Harris was only down by 1 percentage point in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania in a hypothetical matchup with Trump. And she was winning by a more comfortable 5 percentage points in Virginia, a state where Biden was up by only a razor-thin margin.

After stepping down, Biden endorses VP Kamala Harris as Democratic presidential nominee
Joe Biden announced decision to step down, the US President announced that he will endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the presidential nominee for his party Democrats. It was unclear whether other senior Democrats would challenge Harris for the party's nomination — she was widely seen as the pick for many party officials — or whether the party itself would choose to open the field for nominations. «My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,» said Biden in his statement.

What happens next: Joe Biden wants to pass the baton to Kamala Harris. Here's how that might work
Joe Biden ending his reelection bid and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrats now must navigate a shift that is unprecedented this late in an election year. Democrats are set to hold their convention in Chicago on Aug. 19-22. What was supposed to be a coronation for Biden now becomes an open contest in which nearly 4,700 delegates will be responsible for picking a new standard-bearer to challenge Republican Donald Trump in the fall. The path ahead is neither easy nor obvious, even with Biden endorsing Harris. There are unanswered questions about logistics, money and political fallout.

Conversation with India on Pannun assassination plot has been respectful and effective, says US NSA
India regarding the allegations of a plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist in the US that involved an Indian government official has been «respectful» and «effective» because it's being held behind closed doors, according to Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor to the US president. In November last year, US federal prosecutors charged Indian national Nikhil Gupta with working with an Indian government employee in the foiled plot to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York. Gupta, who was arrested in the Czech Republic in June last year, was extradited to the US on June 14. «We have had a constructive dialogue with India on this issue. And we have made it very clear where we stand on it and what we would like to see. And it's been respectful, and it has been effective, in my view, mostly because it is taking place behind closed doors,» Sullivan said at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado on Friday responding to a question on allegations related to the assassination attempt on Pannun. India has denied the allegations but has constituted an internal investigations team to look into it.
