NEW DELHI : The leaders’ summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) takes places on Tuesday under the chairmanship of India, with a likely push for inducting Iran and possibly Belarus as new members. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the virtual summit is set to be attended by President Xi Jinping of China, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, President Vladimir Putin of Russia and the leaders of a number of Central Asian countries. The previous summit took place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in September last year.

Narendra Modi will host Chinese President Xi Jinping, his Russia counterpart Vladimir Putin, Pakistan's Shehbaz Sharif and other leaders of the SCO nations at a virtual summit of the bloc on Tuesday that is expected to focus on regional security situation and ways to boost connectivity and trade. It will be Putin's first participation in a multilateral summit after a mercenary group launched a short-lived armed rebellion last week that rocked Moscow. The summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) under India's presidency is also set to welcome Iran as the new permanent member of the grouping. The situation in Afghanistan, the Ukraine conflict and enhancing cooperation among the SCO member countries are expected to figure in the summit, people familiar with the matter said, adding boosting connectivity and trade is also likely to be discussed. The summit is also taking place against the backdrop of the over three-year eastern Ladakh border standoff between Indian and Chinese troops, and two weeks after Prime Minister Modi's high-profile visit to the US. The SCO, comprising India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, is an influential economic and security bloc and has emerged as one of the largest transregional international organisations.

BEIJING — Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit Russia from March 20 to 22, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Friday.

As Uzbekistan prepares to adopt a new cryptocurrency framework in 2023, the Uzbek regulators have started issuing regulatory approvals to local crypto service providers.

XRP plunged over 5 per cent, whereas Etheruem, Cardano, Solana, Dogecoin and Avalanche shed 2 per cent each. The global cryptocurrency market cap was trading marginally lower at $928.34 billion, dropping about a per cent in the last 24 hours. However, the total trading volume zoomed as much as 24 per cent, close to $45.24 billion.

The government of Uzbekistan, which has previously made significant steps toward a moderate approach to crypto, announced Wednesday that it has restricted access to a number of large international crypto exchanges due to accusations of unlicensed activity. 

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has told ministers to create “favorable conditions” for a new “digital” ecosystem that makes use of “cryptocurrencies and digital assets.”

The National Agency of Prospective Projects (NAPP) in Uzbekistan announced its demands toward crypto mining operators. It would only allow the companies that use solar energy to mine Bitcoin (BTC) or other cryptocurrencies. 

British farmers, forced to throw away tonnes of crops due to a shortage of labour, are calling for the UK government to bring back freedom of movement.

The Tashkent government wants miners to power their farms by installing their own solar panels.

The Republic of Uzbekistan continues to progress with local cryptocurrency regulations, with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issuing a new decree regulating the industry.

Security was never the strong suit of browser-based crypto wallets to store Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and other cryptocurrencies. However, new malware makes the safety of online wallets even more complicated by directly targeting crypto wallets that work as browser extensions such as MetaMask, Binance Chain Wallet or Coinbase Wallet.
