Asset manager BlackRock may boost its Bitcoin exposure in the future.

It’s the final day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos-Klosters between 14-19 January 2024 – a global event bringing together the most influential players in politics and business to discuss the upcoming trends in business. 

Bitcoin's price could breach $170,000 next year, driven by demand for newly listed exchange traded-funds and April's halving event, hedge fund SkyBridge's Anthony Scaramucci said in an interview on Monday. «If bitcoin's at $45,000 on the halving, where it roughly is right now, it'll be $170,000 by mid- to late 2025,» the SkyBridge founder and managing partner told the Reuters Global Markets Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos. The halving is a technical event that reduces the rate at which new bitcoin are released into circulation. «Wherever the price is on the day of the halving in April, multiply it by four, and it'll reach that price in the next 18 months,» Scaramucci said ahead of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting.

He said the parties would likely select the panel of 12 jurors and six alternates on Wednesday. That would pave the way for prosecutors and the defense to proceed to opening statements, in which each side would lay out their case.

The prosecuting attorneys in the criminal case against former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, also known as SBF, have started to call witnesses.

Sam Bankman-Fried's father and brother, as well as Donald Trump's former spokesman Anthony Scaramucci, are among possible witnesses at the cryptocurrency exchange founder's fraud trial, according to a list read by a prosecutor in court on Tuesday. Scaramucci, Bankman-Fried's father Joseph Bankman and his brother Gabriel Bankman-Fried were on a list of potential witnesses prosecutor Danielle Sassoon read in court during jury selection at the outset of Bankman-Fried's trial in order to see if any prospective jurors knew them.

Many former executives with cryptocurrency exchange FTX or its sister companies are on the list to testify in the United States Justice Department’s criminal case against Sam Bankman-Fried, or SBF.

The venture capital industry appears to be gearing up for portfolio rebalancing in 2024, with investors positioning themselves to increase exposure to digital assets in the next bull market. Blockchain Capital, for instance, closed two new funds this week, with $580 million in capital to be deployed in crypto gaming and decentralized finance projects. 

Anthony Scaramucci's SkyBridge Capital and Atlas Merchant Capital are competing for SVB Capital, the venture capital and credit-investment arm of SVB Financial Group, the former parent company of Silicon Valley Bank.
