Cong govt in Karnataka in deep slumber, says Yediyurappa
Congress government in Karnataka was in deep slumber over the drought situation, veteran BJP leader B S Yediyurappa on Sunday said his party will tour the state highlighting its 'failures,' and to strengthen the saffron party ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Taking exception to the style of functioning of the Siddaramaiah-led government, the former Chief Minister accused the administration of releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu under pressure from the neighbouring state. Yediyurappa and several other BJP leaders today visited Kurudumale's lord Ganesha temple here and offered prayers to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday and ahead of the party's state wide tour. Greeting Modi on his birthday, Yediyurappa said, «To pray to god that he becomes PM once again, I have come here with other party leaders.» Noting that there was severe drought in the state, he said the government here has completely forgotten the public interest and is in a deep slumber.

"Low-level politics": AAP after Delhi CM not invited for inauguration of Airport Express Line
Narendra Modi for not sending an invitation to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the inauguration of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line. Ahead of the inauguration, Kakkar took to X, and accused PM Modi of «low-level politics». Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station 'YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25'. «Today the Prime Minister will inaugurate the „Airport Express Line“ in Delhi. Delhi Government bears 50 per cent of the expenses of Delhi Metro but Modi ji does small politics of „I, Me and Myself“, that is why he did not consider it necessary to send an invitation to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal». Taking a dig at PM Modi, the AAP leader said, «Your low-level politics is not liked by people of Delhi». «Delhi belongs to its people, Prime Minister, that is why you could never win because your heart is small and low level politics is not liked by the people of Delhi,» she added. After the inauguration, the Prime Minister took a ride on the Delhi Metro.

India-Canada ties hit a new low as trade minister Mary Ng postpones India trip
India and Canada have hit a new low as Canadian trade minister Mary Ng has 'postponed' a planned trade mission to Mumbai next month without giving any explanation. The move comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's not-so-happy trip to India for the G20 Summit this month that also involved an extended stay here due to a snag in his flight. Ng was to come to Mumbai on October 9 along with Canadian businesses for a five-day trip known as a 'Team Canada' trade mission to revive bilateral trade talks that are currently paused, review trade ties, and meet industry representatives. «At this time, we are postponing the upcoming trade mission to India,» a spokesperson for the minister said without giving a reason, as per a Reuters report. The relationship between Canada and India has been showing signs of strain in recent times with the Trudeau government taking limited steps to address India's concerns over anti-India activities in Canada. Last Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed India's concerns to Trudeau following the G20 Summit here. Officials here said extremist elements in Canada are promoting secessionism and inciting violence against Indian diplomats, damaging diplomatic premises, and threatening the Indian community in Canada and their places of worship. They said the nexus of such forces with organised crime, drug syndicates and human trafficking should be a concern for Canada as well. Modi had told Trudeau that it is essential for the two countries to cooperate in dealing with such threats.

Cong resolves to make INDIA bloc 'ideological and electoral success' to free country from 'divisive politics'
Congress on Saturday resolved to make the INDIA bloc an «ideological and electoral success» to free the country from "divisive politics" and ensure that people get a government that is sensitive and accountable. The party made the assertion in a resolution adopted by the Congress Working Committee, which held its first meeting after being reconstituted. The CWC also «wholeheartedly» welcomed the continuing consolidation of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) claiming it has already rattled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. In its resolution, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), which is the party's highest decision-making party, expressed grave concern at the «increasing unemployment and continuous rise in prices, especially of essential commodities». «The prime minister's so-called Rozgar melas are a hoax to cover up the abject failure to create, as promised, two crore jobs a year,» the resolution said. The CWC claimed that the failure to conduct the decennial Census, due in 2021, is a «national and an international shame». «One of the consequences is that an estimated 14 crore of the poorest Indians are denied their entitlement to food rations since ration cards are issued on the basis of the 2011 Census.
