Insulting Hindu gods hallmark of INDIA bloc's political agenda: BJP on DMK MP Raja's remarks
BJP on Tuesday lashed out at the opposition parties' INDIA bloc over reported remarks of DMK leader A Raja against Hinduism and Lord Ram and said insulting India's ethos publicly and humiliating Hindu gods has become the hallmark of their political agenda. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, senior party leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad noted that DMK MP Raja in his latest speech in Tamil has said «India is not a nation. Understand this well. India is never a nation. One nation means one language, one tradition, one culture. Then, only it is a nation. India is not a nation but a sub-continent». «This is Maoist ideology,» Prasad charged, reacting sharply to the DMK leader's reported remarks. Prasad further quoted Raja who said in his speech «if this is your Jai Shri Ram, if this is your Bharat Mata Ki Jai, we will never accept that Jai Shri Ram and Bharat Mata. Tamil don't accept. You go and tell (that) we are enemies of Ram».

Will come out with foolproof plan to make govt recruitment transparent: Rahul Gandhi on paper leaks
paper leaks, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said his party will not allow anyone to play with the future of students and come out with a concrete plan to make government recruitment process transparent. The issue of paper leak has become a curse not only for the youth of Uttar Pradesh but also for the entire country, he said in a post on X in Hindi. Gandhi was apparently referring to the cancellation of a police recruitment examination in Uttar Pradesh following allegations of the question paper being leaked. The BJP-led state government, which has ordered a re-test, on Tuesday removed the chairperson of the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. In the last seven years, «more than 70 paper leak cases have shattered the dreams of more than two crore students», he claimed and added that this is «wasting precious years of building for the future». This also puts a financial and mental burden on the families of students, the Congress leader said.

Tejashwi Yadav defends Lalu over 'Modi's family' remark
Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday charged the ruling BJP at the Centre with diverting public attention by "Modi ka Parivaar" rhetoric, which came as a response to his father Lalu Prasad's attack on the Prime Minister a couple of days ago. Talking to reporters here, Yadav said BJP leaders suffixing «Modi ka Parivar» to their names reminded him of «Main Bhi Chowkidar» rhetoric ahead of Lok Sabha polls of 2019 when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had coined a slogan "chowkidar chor hai". «I am glad that the words of Lalu ji have so much impact,» remarked the former Bihar Deputy CM sarcastically, adding: «But what about issues like poverty and unemployment that he had raised? He spoke of so many things». Prasad, who is the RJD's founding president, had on Sunday told a rally here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had «no family» of his own, in a bid to rubbish the latter's criticism of «parivarvad» or dynastic politics.

Rahul Gandhi accuses PM Modi of hiding 'donation business' as SBI seeks extension for electoral bond disclosure
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Monday, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying his best to hide the "donation business." The former Congress president's remark came hours after the State Bank of India (SBI) approached the apex court seeking more time to disclose the names of donors. In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, «When the Supreme Court has stated that it is the right of the countrymen to know the truth about electoral bonds, why does SBI want this information not to be made public before the elections?» «Asking for time until 30th June for information that can be retrieved with one click shows that there is nothing black in the pulses; the entire pulses are black,» Gandhi added.

How BJP plans to win all 80 seats in UP Lok Sabha polls
Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for 51 seats. Railways' policies being framed keeping only the rich in mind: Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday alleged that policies for Indian Railways were being framed by the government keeping only the rich in mind, and claimed that trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a «guarantee of betrayal». In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi alleged that by showing the dream of making those wearing «hawai chappal» (slippers) travel by «hawai jahaz» (airplane), Prime Minister Modi is even distancing them from «gareebon ki sawari» (vehicle of the poor) railways. «Amidst a 10 per cent increase in fare every year, loot in the name of dynamic fare, rising cancellation charges and expensive platform tickets, people are being lured by showing them a picture of an 'elite train' that the poor cannot even set foot on,» the former Congress chief said. The government has collected Rs 3,700 crore from senior citizens in the last three years by «snatching away» the exemptions given to them, he claimed.

RJD hopes defectors in Bihar will be disqualified like turncoats in Himachal
RJD on Saturday hailed the disqualification of six Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh who had recently crossed over to the BJP and expressed hope that similar action will be taken against turncoats in Bihar. RJD national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha, whose party has lost five of its MLAs to the state's ruling NDA, made a statement to the effect at a press conference. «The defectors do not make up for two-thirds of the party's total strength in the Bihar Assembly. Their membership of the House, hence, cannot be sustained,» asserted the RJD leader, whose party had 79 MLAs until legislators began walking over to the ruling side in phases. «Turncoats in Himachal Pradesh have been disqualified on the grounds that exist in Bihar too. We urge the Speaker here to take note and take appropriate action. If he does not, we will take legal recourse,» Jha said.

Congress-Left allies in different states but will oppose each other in Kerala: Jairam Ramesh
CPI declaring Annie Raja its candidate from Kerala's Wayanad, the Congress Wednesday said it is in alliance with the Left in different states but they have always and will continue to oppose each other electorally in Kerala. The Congress's assertion came after Annie Raja, wife of CPI general secretary D Raja, was nominated to contest from the pivotal Wayanad constituency, a seat presently held by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Asked about Annie Raja's candidature, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh told reporters, «The Left parties are very much part of the INDIA group. It has always been understood that this does not preclude group partners from contesting against each other in different states especially Kerala.» «The Congress and the Left are allies in different states but in Kerala we have always and will continue to oppose each other electorally,» he asserted.

What happened in Sandeshkhali is beyond any Indian's comprehension: Smriti Irani
Smriti Irani said on Monday and questioned the Congress' silence on alleged sexual abuse of women by TMC supporters in the village. Congress people want to go there and talk but the «shehzada», who is still lost in the maze of politics, has not said a word on this matter, the Women and Child Development minister said in an apparent reference to senior party leader Rahul Gandhi. Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district has been on the boil for a month with protests against local TMC leader Sheikh Shajahan and his supporters over allegations of land grabbing and sexually abusing local women. Sheikh has been absconding since an Enforcement Directorate team that raided his house in connection with an alleged ration scam was attacked by a mob last month.
