Bishnoi has been lodged in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad since 2023. «These gangsters engage their criminal network to lure unemployed youth, not only in Punjab but also from the neighbouring states by offering them either huge amounts of money or a promise of helping them settle abroad,» according to the NIA. For the killing of Siddique, police officials said the shooters were first timers. Early this year, the gang was behind the killing of INLD chief Nafee Singh Rathee and a Gurugram-based bookie Sachin Munjal. Bishnoi's associate from Canada, Rohit Godara, had claimed responsibility for the killing. On Bishnoi's alleged proceeds of crimes, the NIA has unearthed that one Manish Bhandari, living in Thailand, manages the funds. Bhandari runs the night club chain named Bollywood Club, Cama Club and a hotel-cum-restaurant Punappa in Thailand. The money collected through extortion, illegal liquor and arms smuggling business is sent to Bhandari in Thailand through hawala for investing in night clubs and bars, according to the NIA.

This means that even if you have already received a tax refund for the financial year 2023-24, your case could still be selected for investigation if the tax department suspects any irregularities. “Suspicious clusters, comprising of ITRs in which common email ID has been reported, has been identified based on certain rules. Details of such high-risk clusters are being disseminated to the respective CRU (Central Registry Unit) Nodal officer 1 for the purpose of verification of suspicion that false claims of refunds have been made in an organised manner or through a single key person,” said the Income Tax Department on the said internal order.

Real estate developer Sunteck Realty has reported nearly 33% on-year growth in pre-sales at Rs 524 crore for the quarter ended September. The company has recorded collections worth Rs 267 crore for the quarter, up 25% from a year ago. The quarterly performance has pushed pre-sales numbers for the first half of 2024-25 to Rs 1,026 crore, up 31.2% from Rs 782 crore a year ago. Car sales in the first half of the fiscal year has been slower than expected, but with the onset of the festive season demand is expected to gain momentum helping bringing down stocks in the network, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Shailesh Chandra said. As per data available with the industry body, sales of cars, sedans and utility vehicles went up by a modest 0.5% to 2,081,143 units between April and September FY25, signalling a weakening of demand in the third largest automobile market in the world. Passenger vehicle sales in India rose by 8.4% to a record 4.22 million units in FY24. Chandra said, “The expectation was slightly better than (sales growth being) flattish. While April was good, sales in May and June did not play out as per expectation, which impacted industry volumes adversely. In September too, two weeks of Shraddh (considered by consumers as inauspicious for making purchases) affected retails. But now with the start of festival period, sales on-ground seem to be doing well.”
