This year, there will be 1,869 short distance mela special trains to cater to requirements of passengers coming from within Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas. Another 706 trains long distance and 559 ring trains will also function. No ring rail services were plying during the 2019 Kumbh. This circular railway network runs parallel to a ring road, catering to very short distance journeys where there is regular passenger demand.

ITC Ltd. has allotted 125.11 crore equity shares of ITC Hotels to its shareholders. The decision was finalized during a Board meeting on January 11, 2025, following a scheme of arrangement between ITC Ltd. and ITC Hotels (ITCHL). In an exchange filing, ITC stated, «The Board of Directors of ITCHL, at the meeting held today, January 11, 2025, has allotted 125,11,71,040 equity shares of Rs 1 each to the shareholders of the company as of the record date, January 6, 2025, pursuant to the Scheme of Arrangement among ITC Limited, ITCHL, and their respective shareholders and creditors.»

Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) virus, marking the state's first recorded case, according to the officials. Superintendent of Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dhruv Jyoti Bhuiyan confirmed the infection, stating that a test was conducted on the child, which returned positive results. «This morning, we got the report of the child who had come here who had cough and symptoms and had been diagnosed with the HMPV virus. The test was part of the routine but the results came positive. There is nothing to worry about, the child is perfectly alright, it is a 10-month-old child..» said Buiyan while speaking to ANI.

This marks the fifth consecutive year of below-normal precipitation in the Union Territory, he said. The weather expert said a closer look at the rainfall trends over the recent years highlights an alarming pattern.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday demanded answers from the government on the value of the rupee reaching its «lowest level ever» against the US dollar. The rupee declined 18 paise to breach the 86-mark against the US dollar for the first time on Friday. It settled at 86.04 against the US currency. «The value of rupee against the dollar has reached its lowest level ever. For the first time in history, the value of one dollar has become 86.4 rupees,» Priyanka Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X. She said during Manmohan Singh's tenure, when the value of one dollar was 58-59 rupees, Narendra Modi used to link the value of the rupee with the prestige of the government.

Besides, India needs to add an average of 50 GW of renewable energy capacity per annum over the next six years to achieve its target. «Exponential growth from 13.75 GW in 2023 to around 30 GW in 2024, resulting in achieving nearly 218 GW now underscores India's growing commitment to clean energy and its progress in building a greener future,» New & Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said in a post on X.

Supertech Township Projects, has rejected the settlement proposal and NCLAT will now take a final decision on the insolvency of the debt-ridden realty firm. Counsel representing Ram Kishore Arora, the suspended director of the realty firm informed NCLAT on Thursday about the rejection of the settlement proposal. «Counsel for the appellant (Arora) submits that they have received the communication from Punjab & Sind Bank that the proposal submitted by the appellant is not acceptable,» noted an NCLAT order recording the submissions. A three-member bench of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) said it will have to take a «final decision» in the matter as the appeal has been pending for the last several months.
