Nepal, India to strengthen power transmission systems; help each other in energy sector
India and Nepal have decided to strengthen the power transmission systems between the two countries and help each other to progress in the energy sector, according to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Nepal. The statement came two days after the Nepal-India Joint Steering Committee (JSC) on Power Sector Cooperation meeting concluded in Chitwan district of central Nepal on Friday and was followed by the signing of the agreement on Long Term Power Trade between the two nations.

Nepal, India sign long-term power agreement
Nepal on Thursday signed a long-term agreement that will facilitate the export of 10,000 MW of electricity to India in the next 10 years during the two-day visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to the Himalayan nation. Russia, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar signed three documents relating to the Kudan Kulam Nuclear Power Plants, an MoU on cooperation in pharmaceuticals and healthcare and a Protocol on Foreign Office Consultations according to a release of the Ministry of External affairs. The EAM was on a visit to Russia from December 25 to 29 as a part of the ongoing high-level exchanges between the two sides. During his visit, Jaishankar called on Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov. «Three documents relating to the Kudan Kulam Nuclear Power Plants, an MoU on cooperation in pharmaceuticals and healthcare and a Protocol on Foreign Office Consultations were signed during the visit,» the Ministry of External Affairs said in a release.
