Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai emphasised the urgent need to tackle air pollution across northern India, calling the next 15 days «crucial». Following a key meeting with the Central government on Friday, Rai held a press conference on Saturday. The meeting, attended by Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Bhupender Yadav, along with environment ministers from neighbouring states, aimed to assess and address the worsening air quality in the region. Rai expressed concern over the delay in this year's meeting and said, «Last year, a similar meeting was held in August, allowing us more time to strategise. »This year's meeting took place in the last week of October. 'Resilient growth has given us the space to focus on inflation so as to ensure its durable descent to the 4 per cent target," Das said at the Macro Week 2024 organised by the Peterson Institute for International Economics at Washington DC.

DLF reported decline in new sales booking during July-September quarter due to delay in receiving the requisite approvals for launches. The company reported new sales bookings of Rs 692 crore against Rs 6,404 crore, during the previous quarter. Droupadi Murmu on Thursday appointed Mazhar Asif as the vice chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia, according to Union Ministry of Education officials. Asif is currently a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University's (JNU) School of Languages. «The president, in her capacity as the visitor of Jamia Millia Islamia, has appointed Professor Mazhar Asif, School of Languages, JNU, as the vice chancellor of Jamia for five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier,» a ministry official said. Asif, a JNU alumnus, was a member of the drafting committee for the new National Education Policy, 2020.

Bengaluru dominated as the country's top city for job opportunities and salary growth as it has registered a 9.3 per cent year-on-year increase, closely followed by Chennai and Delhi, a report said on Thursday. This growth underlines Bengaluru's reputation as a technology and business hub as the average monthly unified salary in the city stood at Rs 29,500, making it the highest-paying city in the country, according to TeamLease Services Jobs and Salaries Primer report for FY24. The report is based on an analysis of unified salaries across temporary and permanent hiring markets. This was closely followed by Chennai and Delhi, which reported strong salary growth of 7.5 per cent and 7.3 per cent, respectively, reflecting the competitive nature of these job markets, it noted.
