Harris vows tougher approach on migration, supports weapons for Israel
Kamala Harris vowed a tougher approach to migration along the U.S. southern border and said she would not withhold weapons to Israel, in her first interview with a major news organization since becoming the Democratic nominee for president. Harris' interview with CNN anchor Dana Bash reflected an effort to show she is in command of the issues and give Americans a sense of her policy positions with little more than two months until Election Day on Nov. 5. Harris said she would renew a push for comprehensive border legislation that would tighten migration into the United States and vowed to «enforce our laws» against border crossings.

Canada ends policy allowing visitor visa holders to apply for work permits from within the country
The policy was introduced in August 2020 to assist visitors in Canada who were unable to return home because of border closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the policy, they could apply for a work permit without having to leave Canada. Also, anyone who had held a work permit within the preceding 12 months but had changed their immigrations status to “visitor” became eligible to “work legally in Canada while waiting for a decision on their new work permit application.”

Jammu and Kashmir elections: CM to have no power, I won't contest, says Mehbooba Mufti
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said she won't contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections as an assembly in the Union Territory is extremely weak to implement any significant decisions. Mufti said that if she won't be able to release a prisoner or revoke an FIR on her own, what use was being a chief minister in such a region. «I have been a chief minister of a government with the BJP which revoked FIRs against 12,000 persons. Can we do that now? I, as the CM of a government with (PM) Modi, wrote a letter to separatists to invite them for talks. Can you do that today? I got a ceasefire (implemented) on ground. Can you do that today? If you cannot take back an FIR as CM, what does one do with such a post?» Mufti told reporters here.

Kamala Harris trailing Joe Biden, Bill Clinton at this point in campaigns, says strategists
Joe Biden led Donald Trump by 7.1 percent on this day in 2020 according to the Real Clear Politics average. The election came down to a small number of votes in a small number of states, and at this point in 2016, Hillary Clinton was ahead by 6.3 per cent. As of right now, Harris leads Trump by 1.5 per cent in the Real Clear Politics average and 3.5 per cent in the FiveThirtyEight.com average. Thus, while she leads in both averages, she is far behind in terms of the numbers that both Biden and Clinton had. Biden prevailed by 42,000 votes in three states, while Clinton was defeated. Karl Rove pointed out that while these were national averages, swing state polling averages might be more important. In 2022, the FCA rejected an application from Saranac Partners to approve Tom Kalaris for the roles of CEO and executive director, citing reasonable grounds to believe that he had not been...
