NBDA) has urged the Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government to ensure that all broadcasters are allowed to operate without interference in the wake of the blackout of four news channels, Sakshi TV, TV9, NTV, and 10TV, by the cable TV operators. The Cable TV Operators Association of Andhra Pradesh affiliated members have blocked the carriage of signals from Sakshi TV, a member of the NBDA, and three other news broadcasters, namely, TV9, NTV, and 10TV for allegedly criticising Naidu's Telugu Desam party (TDP). «NBDA seeks the intervention of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to urge the cable operators to review their stand and avoid a situation of confrontation that is neither in the interest of the stakeholders nor in the public interest.»

Is Modi’s policy agenda at risk in new Parliament? Here's what might now happen to some of his key plans
Modi’s vast domestic agenda is in jeopardy after his party failed to win an outright majority in parliament for the first time in a decade, forcing it to work with a coalition of parties and grapple with an expanded opposition bench. Over the past decade that Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party has ruled with absolute majorities, its advocated for — and pushed through — laws that critics say have furthered its majoritarian goals. Some of the outstanding policies on that agenda may now need to be reviewed or jettisoned after the electoral setback. Signs of acrimony between the BJP-led government and the opposition were visible Monday at the start of the first parliamentary session since election results earlier this month. A united opposition — which won about 230 of the 543 seats in the lower house, the Lok Sabha — are opposing the BJP’s selection of a temporary speaker of parliament and are protesting against a brewing scandal over college entrance exams.

Unfortunate that acts glorifying terrorism allowed in Canada routinely: Indian High Commission
terrorism in Canada as «deplorable», India has said it was «unfortunate» that such actions are allowed to be «routine» on many occasions here when it should be condemned by all peace-loving countries and people. In a statement on the 39th anniversary of the 1985 Kanishka bombing, in which 329 persons, most of them Canadians of Indian descent, on board an Air India flight lost their lives, the Indian High Commission said that terrorism knows «no borders, nationality, or race.» The Montreal-New Delhi Air India 'Kanishka' Flight 182 exploded 45 minutes before it was to have landed at London's Heathrow Airport on June 23, 1985, killing all 329 people on board, including 86 children.
