Why Do Companies’ IT Projects Fail So Often?
Remember that IT project that your company launched and turned out to be a bust? The answer, of course, is yes: There are likely few organizations that haven’t been touched by some IT project mishap, or worse, disaster. How can that be? Why, despite decades of implementing IT systems, are organizations still struggling with their tech projects? My colleague, R.M. Bastien, and I have studied hundreds of such projects, and found that the root causes of failing or underachieving tech investments were rarely where executives would ever have thought to look.

DGCA allows Air India to operate pilot training simulator
DGCA has reinstated approval for Air India's simulator facilities at Mumbai and Hyderabad. This will allow the airline to restart training of pilots which was stopped after the regulator has suspended approval following an audit which found the airline wasn't adhering to standards of the regulator. Air India operates two simulators. The Boeing pilots are trained in a facility in Mumbai while pilots operating the Airbus fleet are trained in Hyderabad. Simulators are used to familiarize pilots with the plane's operational procedures and to prepare them for all situations by creating real world scenarios in the cockpit. Sources said that the regulator had given a conditional approval to operate the simulators after the deficiencies were rectified.

Delta flight traveling from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to return, reportedly due to a «biohazard issue» resulting from a passenger experiencing diarrhea onboard, according to media reports. Flight 194 had been in the air for approximately two hours on a Friday evening when the pilot made the decision to return to its departure point. In an audio clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), the pilot mentioned that a passenger had suffered from diarrhea, affecting multiple areas of the aircraft, as per reports. Following the incident, the plane underwent a thorough cleaning process and eventually departed for Barcelona the following day. Delta, in a statement provided to the Insider website, confirmed that there had indeed been a «medical issue» on board, necessitating the return to Atlanta for cleaning purposes. The statement read: «Delta Flight 194 from Atlanta to Barcelona returned to Atlanta following an onboard medical issue.» This occurrence follows a recent incident in which 11 passengers and crew members were hospitalized due to severe turbulence on a Delta flight from Milan to Atlanta, as reported by the US-based airline.

Ace Aviation gets adjournment from NCLAT in Jet Airways aircraft sale matter
Ace Aviation VIII Ltd, on Wednesday, was successful in securing an adjournment from the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) in its petition filed against the monitoring committee of Jet Airways for enforcing the sale of three aircraft. The senior counsel appearing on behalf of Ace Aviation argued that the matter be taken up after the pronouncement of the National Company Law Tribunal Mumbai order, which was reserved on August 30. The senior counsel said that withdrawing the current petition or terming it as infructuous, as proposed by the other side, would limit the bidder's options. At the last hearing on August 10, the chairperson's bench had refused to issue notice and adjourned the matter to September 6, as the NCLT was to pronounce its order on August 30. The matter was heard by a different bench today, which adjourned it to September 27. Ace Aviation had approached the appellate tribunal after the NCLT Mumbai had given an interim order asking the monitoring committee to break the deadlock on the sale of three aircraft. The monitoring committee of the beleaguered airline had kept the bidding process in abeyance after it could not all members to agree on the sale.
