Delta Air Lines wants a do-over for changes it recently announced in its frequent-flyer program

Stock market today: Delta Corp shares have been in downtrend since Government of India (GoI) raised GST on casino industry to 28 per cent. However, the comapany had to further witness rubbing of salt on its wounds when it was slapped GST notice for tax repayment to the tune of ₹1140 crore.

The stock opened at ₹137.50 against the previous close of ₹143 and plunged 5.90 per cent to its one-year low level. In the previous session, the stock cracked over 18 per cent after it received a government notification requiring it to pay a tax of ₹16,822 crore for the period spanning July 2017 and March 2022.

casino operator Delta Corp plunged 18% on Monday on news the company and its subsidiaries got tax notices for ₹16,800 crore from the Directorate General of GST (Goods and Services Tax) Intelligence. The development spooked investors as the claims were over four times the company's market value of ₹3,829 crore on Monday. The stock hit a 52-week low of ₹140.20 before closing at ₹143.

Ashish Kacholia has sold stake in Delta Corp Ltd through bulk deals on Monday. The ace investor has offloaded about 15 lakh shares 0.56% in the company at Rs 144.65 apiece, according to exchange data. Kacholia earned Rs 21.69 crore from the sale. It is unclear how much Kacholia held prior to the stake sale in Delta Corp.

State Bank of India: The country's largest lender raised a whopping ₹10,000 crore through an infrastructure bond issue on Friday, with bids exceeding the initial target by over five times. Delta Corp has been issued an intimation by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Hyderabad alleging tax liability of Rs 11,139 crore along with interest and penalty for the period from July 2017 to March 2022. If the dues remain unpaid it will be served with a show-cause notice, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Friday. «The amount claimed in the DG Notice is inter alia based on the gross bet value of all games played at the casinos during the relevant period. Demand of GST on gross bet value, rather than gross gaming revenue, has been an industry issue and various representations have already been made to the Government at an industry level in relation to this issue,» the company said.

The NSE updates the list of securities in F&O ban for trade everyday. The derivative contracts in the mentioned securities have crossed 95 per cent of the market-wide position limit and have been currently put in the ban period by the stock exchange, said NSE.
