Domestic flyer traffic rises 4.9% in September
domestic air traffic saw a 4.9% increase, reaching 13 million passengers, up from 12.24 million in September 2023. This rise comes despite a slight drop from 13.1 million flyers in August. The increase is attributed to a continuous demand for air travel, although aircraft supply constraints remain a challenge. IndiGo continued to dominate the market, holding 63% of the share and achieving an on-time performance of 69.2%. Air India ranked second with a 15.1% share and a slightly higher on-time performance at 68.1%. Vistara followed with 10% of the market and a 69.1% on-time rate.

counter-terrorist drills at various airports, official sources said. Don't expect market to go up substantially in next six or eight months: Sridhar Sivaram
«If I look at the overall PE of the mid and smallcap, obviously they look expensive, but there are pockets which look reasonably good,» says Sridhar Sivaram, Enam Holdings. You make a good case for it, for sure. But what has not been stable or at least when it comes to earnings and this is something that you have also brought up is what is going on with the mid and the smallcaps. Are you still firmly of the view that largecaps is a safer place to be? Sridhar Sivaram: So, actually, mid and smallcap, it is such a big basket that we do find interesting ideas there where we can see strong earnings growth, like power sector is something that we really like, a lot of the power equipment companies are in the mid and smallcap space and they are growing at, say, 30-40%, a lot of the EMS companies are in the midcap space, they are growing at 30-40%. Obviously, these stocks have also rallied. But we think where there is earnings support, these mid and smallcaps can continue growing.

DGCA bars low visibility landings in Boeing 737 planes due to defect in rudder control
DGCA) has asked airlines with Boeing 737 planes not to do landings in less than 150 feet and to conduct training for their pilots for a scenario where the rudder is jammed, restricting its control. This is after the National Transport Safety Board (NTSB), the accident investigator of the US, issued an urgent safety alert last week for a potential rudder failure in the 737 aircraft. The incident was discovered after a United Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 experienced “stuck” rudder pedals while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in February. DGCA’s advisory will not immediately impact any airline as low visibility conditions with visual range as low as 150 feet is not prevailing in the country, say experts. However, if the issue is not sorted before the foggy days of December, airlines may face challenges with some of their planes barred from operating from the Delhi Airport.
