A Bench led by Justice Hima Kohli while posting the matter for further hearing in July noted the submissions made by senior counsel Liz Mattews, appearing for Credit Suisse, that “matter should be taken up after three months to ensure that they (Spicejet) don’t default as they have been doing in the past,” The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by Credit Suisse against Singh over the non-payment of dues despite a court-approved commercial settlement arrived at between the Swiss firm and the low-cost airline in 2021. Travel agencies ramp up hiring as India lays out the red carpet
recruitment efforts, especially for mid-level and senior talent, propelled by the government's push on tourism and a significant boost in the interim budget presented last month. Recruitment firms told ET they are seeing a 30-50% rise in mandates from travel companies, looking to tap continued rise in consumer spending on tourism post the revenge travel boom. Companies are scouting for talent in not just product, engineering, revenue, and supply chain, but also those with specialised skills in AI and automation. Hospitality and consumer tech companies are emerging as hunting grounds for such talent, which can command compensation packages ranging from ₹70-80 lakhs, reaching up to ₹1-2 crore for CXO appointments. The travel market in India, estimated at $75 billion in FY20, is projected to reach $125 billion by FY27, according to data from industry body FICCI.

Akasa Air will not have to cancel flights due to new pilot rest rules: Vinay Dube
Akasa Air doesn’t see any curtailment of flights due to the new pilot rest rules even though it has planned an exponential growth and international foray this summer, CEO Vinay Dube. Dube is a co-founder of the airline which started in 2022 and is backed by the family of late stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. “We should rather applaud the regulator for their continuous focus on safety rather than talking if there will be two or three pilots short. We have 24 aircraft and around 700 pilots now which is plenty not just for the current fleet but also for the aircraft that will be delivered later. We will maintain a reliable schedule and there will be no flight cancellations,” Dube said.

Akasa is India's fastest growing airline; we can do in three years what other carriers have spent 15-20 years doing: Vinay Dube
Vinay Dube, Founder, MD & CEO, Akasa Air, says: “We are part of India's growth story. We can help underpin the economic growth as is required with strong transportation links. We are India's most on-time airline and so we have a real sort of approach to service excellence that we hope is not seen so far. For me, it is just excitement in the future and to top it all off, we are starting our first international flight and so we get to plant the orange Akasa flag in Doha, Qatar just in a few days and we have broken all records with it. We are the first airline to fly internationally within 19 months of launch when most others have taken about six years and that is the reason why I am so excited.” Dube further said: «Flight to Kuwait, Riyadh, Jeddah will come on the heels of Doha, perhaps later this summer. I cannot give you a definitive timeline because we are working with these foreign governments to get the appropriate approvals before we can launch it. But that is just the start. We will (eventually) fly to other parts of the Indian subcontinent, whether it is Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kathmandu, etc, or Southeast Asia, other parts of the Middle East.» What is happening in the Indian skies right now? There is competition. There is a news flow, a lot of issues we keep hearing about with regards to Boeing. We are going to address that in greater detail, but set the roadmap for us. Vinay Dube: For me, Indian aviation is growth, excitement and a future of connected cities.
