online food delivery and quick-commerce platform operator Zomato tanked by over 10% on Tuesday after its consolidated net profit in the December quarter dropped 57% from a year ago. Swiggy shares also declined 8% with Zomato's disappointing earnings rubbing off on its smaller rival. Zomato has attributed the weaker numbers to the increased investments in accelerated new dark-store openings and customer acquisition efforts in the quick commerce (QC) business. Swiggy has not reported its October-December results yet.

Rupee gives up gains to close at 86.57
Indian rupee weakened marginally on Tuesday to close at 86.577 per US dollar, versus previous close of 86.567/$1. The local currency peaked to 86.282/$1 during the day after US president Donald Trump refrained from imposing tariffs on his first day in office. The rupee, however, gave up its gains after Trump said he was thinking about imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

Dalmia Bharat’s profit slumped by more than 75% on year in the December quarter as weak prices of the building material and a moderation in demand offset the benefits of lower cost of raw materials, logistics, and power and fuel. The country’s fourth-largest producer of cement by capacity posted a consolidated profit of Rs 66 crore for the October-December period, down from Rs 266 crore a year ago. The bottomline was, though, higher as compared to Rs 49 crore in the September quarter helped by a recovery in prices.

PNB Housing Finance Q3 Results: Net profit jumps 43% YoY to Rs 483 crore on strong home loan demand
PNB Housing Finance on Tuesday reported a 43 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 483 crore for the December quarter. The non-banking finance company, promoted by Punjab National Bank, had earned Rs 338 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Total income during the third quarter of the current fiscal year grew to Rs 1,943 crore from Rs 1,756 crore in the year-ago period, PNB Housing Finance said in a regulatory filing.

IndiaMart Intermesh on Tuesday reported a 36% jump in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, to Rs 125 crore versus Rs 92 crore posted in the year- ago period. The Q3FY25 revenue from operations stood at Rs 337 crore, a growth of 16% versus Rs 291 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. On a sequential basis, the revenue was up 1.6% versus Rs 332 crore reported in the July-September quarter. Meanwhile, profit after tax (PAT) fell 1.6% over Rs 127 crore reported in Q2FY25.
