The Power Finance Corporation (PFC) chairman and managing director (CMD) Parminder Chopra made the remarks in a post earnings call. «The Board in its wisdom has decided that since it's a new sector for us, so we may not take that high-end exposure,» she said in reply to a question related to sanctioning loan to Shapoorji Pallonji. Shapoorji Pallonji Group is a business conglomerate which specializes in sectors like engineering and construction.

Indian Railways has utilised 61% of its budgeted allocation — till October-end — through a ₹1.63 lakh crore capital expenditure (capex) for the current fiscal. According to officials aware of the development, earnings of the national transporter were at an upswing with ₹1.02 lakh crore earnings from freight and ₹46,374.5 crore from passengers during the months under review. «Total revenue stood 6.1% higher at ₹1.49 lakh crore this fiscal,» a senior official told ET. For the full fiscal, the Railways has earmarked ₹2.65 lakh crore as capex. It also expects to rake in ₹80,000 crore from passengers, and ₹1.80 lakh crore as freight revenue.

The order comes after a meeting the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had with representatives of online food delivery companies, in which they were told to ensure that products being delivered reach consumers with a minimum shelf life of 30% or 45 days before expiry, depending on the food item and format used in the labelling to inform about expiry date. Last month, the consumer affairs ministry had taken note of the matter after receiving several complaints through the national consumer helpline about quick commerce companies not following norms on disclosures such as displaying expiry dates of packaged food items, as mandated by the Legal Metrology Act. MTNL has defaulted on a total payment of Rs 5,726.29 crore, comprising a principal amount of Rs 5,492 crore raised from various banks and an interest of Rs 234.28 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing. The company shared that its total financial debt now stands at Rs 32,097.28 crore — 40 times more than its consolidated annual income of Rs 798 crore. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday told reporters that there is no insecurity about the debt raised by MTNL as it is backed by a sovereign guarantee and the company's business will be transferred to BSNL.

Industrial Production (IIP) in India witnessed an expansion of 3.1 per cent in September, as per data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Tuesday. The Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) are released on 12th of every month (or previous working day if 12th is a holiday) with a six weeks lag and compiled with data received from source agencies, which in turn receive the data from the producing factories/ establishments. State Bank of India is planning to raise as much as Rs 20 billion ($237 million) through its third climate fund, according to people familiar with the matter. SBI Ventures Ltd. plans to raise the money from multilateral institutions after approval from the company’s board, said people, who asked not to be identified as the information is private. The fund will invest in small and mid-sized companies that are focused on recycling waste and curbing emissions among other initiatives, and obtain equity partnership, the people said.

personal loan, credit card and microfinance (MFI) portfolios, Indian banks are slashing credit card limits and restricting pre-approved personal loans. Some of the lenders have also reduced loan-to-value (LTV) ratios on mortgage loans, bankers told ET. «We have identified stress segments in our unsecured portfolio based on customer segment, geographies, credit scores and sectors that are showing signs of trouble,» said the retail head of a private sector lender. «We have reduced risks in these segments by lowering credit card additions, reducing credit card limits, lowering LTV and keeping away from segments which have thrown up high risk.» Several lenders said that they now prefer offering loans to customers with credit scores of more than 750 from a cap of 720 seen prior to the onset of stress. Banks are also keeping a very close watch on days past due (DPD), where collection machinery gets triggered at day zero DPD.

HFCL Ltd on Monday said the company along with its consortium partners has been declared the lowest bidder for optical fibre-based broadband network projects worth Rs 13,000 crore under BharatNet Phase III for UP East, UP West and Punjab circles. The company placed bids for UP East and UP West through consortium partners and alone for the Punjab circle. «HFCL-Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL)-Aerial Telecom Solutions Private Limited, a Consortium has been declared as the Lowest Bidders by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), for bids valued at around Rs 6,925 crore to provide middle-mile network in Uttar Pradesh (East) and Uttar Pradesh (West) under the BharatNet Phase III programme,» the company said in the filing. The consortium will be awarded 10 years of operation and maintenance (O&M) order at an annual rate of 5.5 per cent of capex for the first five years and 6.5 per cent for the subsequent five years which will be worth about Rs 4,155 crores, after commissioning of the first ring of network, the filing said.

The metal flagship company of the Aditya Birla group announced its earnings for the September quarter late on Monday, and its consolidated net profit jumped 78% on year to ₹3,909 crore helped by strong traction in its India business.

HDFC Bank has decided to divest several key commercial properties inherited during its 2023 merger with its mortgage-lender parent, HDFC, said persons with direct knowledge of the development. Monetisation of these assets, which include some residential apartments, could together fetch about ₹3,000 crore for India's most-valued bank. The assets to be sold include the HDFC House in South Mumbai's Churchgate and residential apartments that were allotted to HDFC's senior officials earlier. Commercial assets across south Mumbai, Kalina, Chandivali and other cities including Kolkata, Mysore, and Bengaluru are valued at around ₹2,400 crore. Residential apartments are likely to be valued around ₹800 crore.
