Reeling out some of the decisions, she said, permanent commissioning of women officers, entry of girls in Sainik School, raising maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, and Poshan Abhiyan benefitting 10 crore women are some of them. To promote entrepreneurship among women, she said, the government is providing credit facilities under the PM Mudra Scheme without collateral and at a concessional rate. Congress accuses ruling CPI(M) in Kerala of using CAA for electoral gains
Congress on Tuesday accused the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala of using the CAA for electoral gains, and said it is trying to alienate Muslim voters from the Congress on the «lie» that the grand old party did not oppose the controversial law Separately, Congress leaders asserted that if the INDIA front, of which the Left parties are a part, comes to power, the legislation will be «thrown in the dustbin». Congress Working Committee member and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor said that the Left front in Kerala is spreading «lies» and «distorting» the facts about the grand old party's role in opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), right from its introduction as a bill in Parliament. Tharoor said that the Communist party, «which contributed minimally» to the freedom struggle during its crucial years, is today «trying to reap its benefits for political points in the most disgracefully dishonest way». Similarly, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly V D Satheesan accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of misusing the CAA for political gains. Satheesan said that Wayanad Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and various other UDF MPs have spoken against the CAA, details of which have been forwarded to Vijayan. Despite that, the CM is lying and misusing the citizenship law to attract votes from the minorities, especially Muslims, the opposition leader alleged.

Florida's DeSantis signs law restricting social media for people under 16
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a bill that bans children aged under 14 from social media platforms and requires 14- and 15-year-olds to get parental consent, a measure supporters say will protect them from online risks to their mental health. The measure requires social media platforms to terminate the accounts of people under 14 and those of people under 16 who do not have parental consent. It requires them to use a third-party verification system to screen out those who are underage.

EU countries split over nature law in latest blow to green agenda
European Union's flagship policy to restore damaged nature is hanging in the balance, with a vote to pass the law on Monday cancelled after Hungary withdrew its support for the bill. A vote on the law among EU countries' environment ministers on Monday was called off after Hungary said last week it would no longer back the policy — wiping out the already-slim reinforced majority of countries in favour. The nature law is the latest EU environmental policy to come under fire as policymakers try to respond to months of angry farmers' protests over complaints including strict green EU regulations. The EU has already weakened numerous green rules to attempt to quell the protests.

Madhya Pradesh man learns printing skills in jail, produces Rs 200 fake notes after getting released
Madhya Pradesh, Bhupendra Singh Dhakat, learned printing skills while in jail and later used them to produce fake currency notes, authorities revealed. Dhakat was apprehended by the police after they found 95 counterfeit notes of Rs 200 each at his residence in Sironj. Along with the fake notes, a color printer, ink bottles, and paper used for making the counterfeit currency were also seized. Dhakat admitted to circulating the fake money in the district for several months. He has a history of 11 criminal cases, including murder, and has been in and out of jail. During his last incarceration, he acquired printing skills through a vocational program aimed at helping inmates reintegrate into society post-release. Instead of using his skills for good, Dhakat resorted to illegal activities. Despite being banned from multiple districts, he managed to continue his illicit operations. According to the jail superintendent, prisoners receive printing training to support themselves after release. The case highlights the challenges of rehabilitation post-prison and the misuse of acquired skills for criminal activities.
