Reuters, which added the cryptocurrency rose by as much as 3.28 percent. According to crypto trading exchange CoinMarketCap, the current market capitalization of bitcoin rose by 2.2 percent at $610,122,773,744.

A spike in client demand has pushed BlackRock to hone in on investments that support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, and its US affiliate have shrank this year, as they battle an onslaught of regulatory crackdowns. Last month, Binance was hit by a lawsuit by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for allegedly breaching the regulator's rules, pushing its global market share to 52% from 60% at the start of the year, according to data firm Kaiko.

BlackRock Inc that will reflect the price of bitcoin to add additional details, according to a filing made public on Monday. The refreshed filing, submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Thursday, said that Coinbase Global Inc will provide market surveillance in support of the proposed ETF from the world's largest asset manager. The move comes after the regulator reportedly had concerns over the initial filings by Nasdaq as being unclear and incomplete. It had flagged similar concerns to Cboe related to a filing from Fidelity. The digital asset space is looking to regain popularity after a bruising 2022 that saw several crypto ventures collapse, including the spectacular implosion of Sam Bankman-Fried's FTX.

Pershing Square Holdings, RTW Biotech Opportunities and CVC Income & Growth have partnered with the firm, representing a combined AUM of £10.4bn.

(Reuters) — Nasdaq refiled an application with the U.S. securities regulator to list an exchange-traded fund by BlackRock Inc (NYSE:BLK) that will reflect the price of bitcoin to add additional details, according to a filing made public on Monday.

In a flurry of Friday afternoon activity, Fidelity Investments led a handful of firms that filed a fresh set of applications for a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund to add new details after the Securities and Exchange Commission indicated that the initial filings were insufficient.

Though the Securities and Exchange Commission has reportedly rejected filings for a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund from BlackRock, Fidelity and a handful of other asset managers, crypto-enthusiasts are optimistic that the product will soon achieve approval.

Fidelity Investments is the latest financial services heavyweight to throw its name into the race to offer the first U.S. exchange-traded fund investing directly in bitcoin.

Bitcoin, which has jumped since BlackRock filed its application on June 15, fell after the Wall Street Journal first reported the SEC rejection on Friday. The world's largest cryptocurrency was last down 1% at $30.142. The SEC, Fidelity, BlackRock and Nasdaq declined to comment on the report, while Cboe was not immediately available.

When BlackRock announced in May that it was calling staff back to the office at least four days a week, it became the first asset management giant to start a major shake-up of its post-Covid hybrid-working arrangements.

The companies — which also include Invesco, VanEck, 21Shares and WisdomTree — are among eight that are seeking to launch what would be an initial crop of US spot Bitcoin ETFs. BlackRock Inc. set off the wave with its surprise filing for such a fund in mid-June.

Bitcoin registered a second straight quarterly gain, tightening its grip on crypto markets as smaller tokens nurse losses. The largest digital asset rose 7% in April through June, aided by optimism about increasing demand if BlackRock Inc., Fidelity Investments and others succeed in their efforts to start spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the US. In contrast, smaller tokens have been weighed down by the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s growing list of coins viewed as unregistered securities, a designation that can make those assets harder to trade. Bitcoin doesn’t face a similar overhang because American officials view it as a commodity. An index comprising the bottom half of the top 100 tokens by market value dropped 25% this quarter. The divergence between Bitcoin’s performance over the period and the latter gauge was the widest since the last three months of 2020. That’s even with an end-of-quarterly rally in tokens such as Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.
