Asset management giant BlackRock's recent application to launch a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) has stirred a debate within the crypto community, with mixed reactions and concerns about the involvement of traditional financial giants in the industry.

BlackRock, the world's biggest asset manager, filed for the exchange last week which would allow investors to get stakes in the asset class. Bitcoin (BTC) surged 5% to $30,326, whereas Ethereum (ETH) was above the $1,900 level. BTC volume stood at approximately $31.48 billion, rising 25% in the last 24 hours. «Bitcoin hovered above the US$30,000 level gaining 5% over the previous day as investors continued to cherish the news of multiple spot Bitcoin ETF filings,» Edul Patel, Co-Founder & CEO of Mudrex said.

BlackRock's plan to create a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) even as the sector faces U.S. regulatory scrutiny. BlackRock, the world's biggest asset manager, filed last week for the exchange which would allow investors to get stakes in the asset class. The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that EDX Markets, a crypto exchange backed by Citadel Securities, Fidelity and Schwab had started operations. The global cryptocurrency industry has been caught in the crosshairs of the U.S. securities regulator on alleged violations of securities laws. Earlier this month, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued major crypto exchanges including Coinbase and Binance. Bitcoin, the world's biggest and best-known cryptocurrency, was last up 5.5% on Wednesday at 29,881.00 after hitting a high of $30,755.00. It is up roughly 81% for the year-to-date.

Valkyrie Funds, a Tennessee-based asset manager, has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for approval for a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). 

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has displayed remarkable strength in recent days, surging by 30% within a week. 

To date, the regulator has yet to approve a spot ETF linked to a cryptocurrency. This is in keeping with its cautious approach to the crypto market. In fact, last week the SEC sued two crypto exchanges, Coinbase and Binance, on the basis that they have failed to register as a securities trading venue.

The PEPE price has risen by 69% today, with its surge to $0.00000151 representing a 78% gain in the last seven days, as the cryptocurrency market becomes more bullish in the face of BlackRock's application for a spot Bitcoin ETF.

The XRP price has risen by 3% in the past 24 hours, rising to $0.509635 after Ripple announced it had received in-principle regulatory approval in Singapore to offer digital asset services in the city-state.

The price of Bitcoin has witnessed an astonishing surge, soaring by over 20% in the last seven days and breaking through the significant milestone of $30,000.
