Singapore Airlines cooperating with authorities in probing severe flight turbulence incident
Singapore Airlines on Wednesday said it is fully cooperating with relevant authorities in the investigation into the London to Singapore flight which encountered severe turbulence, leading to the death of one passenger and injuring 30 others. Geoffrey Kitchen, a 73-year-old British passenger, died likely due to a heart attack on the Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on Tuesday, said Kittipong Kittikachorn, general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, to where the flight was diverted under emergency. As many as 30 passengers were injured after the flight on May 21 encountered «sudden extreme turbulence over the Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000 feet about 10 hours after departure».

Economists had forecast the Consumer Price Index to drop to 2.1% for the month, a sharp drop from 3.2% in March. On a monthly basis, CPI rose by 0.3% in April 2024, compared with a rise of 1.2% in April 2023, according to data from the Office for National Statistics.
