Bombay High Court on Thursday frowned on media reports pertaining to witnesses who will be summoned in the CBI probe against IRS officer Sameer Wankhede on charges of extortion and bribery in connection with the cruise ship drug bust case. The HC sought to know who was leaking such information. A division bench of Justices A S Gadkari and S G Dige said the media reports have said the information is from Central Bureau of Investigation sources.

Havells India Ltd on Thursday reported an 18% year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit for the fiscal's first quarter ended June (Q1FY24) to ₹287.07 crore. The company had reported a profit of ₹243.16 crore in the year-ago period. Sequentially, the consolidated net profit slumped nearly by 20%.  For the quarter ended June 30 (Q1FY24), consolidated revenue from operations jumped nearly 14% year-on-year to ₹4,833.80 crore from ₹4,244.46 crore in Q1FY23.

Rating agency ICRA has revised its growth forecast for non banking finance companies (NBFCs) to 18% to 20% from 12% to 14% earlier due to likely strong demand for unsecured retail loans. However, higher cost of funds will keep margins under pressure for these lenders, the rating agency said. ICRA said that NBFC growth will come from the unsecured loans segment, consisting of personal & consumption loans, unsecured small enterprise loans and microfinance loans.
